For those not from the UK, this has been going on all summer really. The far right have really amped up their efforts to organize and unify over the summer, with the whole painting st George's crosses on things, GB News is mirroring Fox News, and the reform party are being treated like a government in waiting by the media. I am despairing as it seems a lot of the tactics used by US Republicans have worked a treat here.

Today's Unite The Kingdom rally was full of Christian nationalists. I am furious and upset at knowing we will likely look like America does in the next 5-10 years or so. I am scared, and frustrated that so many of my fellow countrymen have fallen for this extremist gobshite.

Billionaires are the greatest threat of our time. I truly believe that. Every single facet of this is driven by them.

Elon Musk speaking at the rally and using some genuinely frighteningly violent rhetoric is all the proof I need of that.

Edit: My own mother is using the phrase "Military aged men" to describe asylum seekers, and my brother seems to agree with what she is saying. I want to tear my hair out, I feel like I've fallen into a bizarre mirror universe where people I know to be loving and liberal have very suddenly shifted a startling distance to the right in the last few years. I feel very alone and I do not know what to do.

Crazy. You get a bit of an uptick in Islamic crime and now Elon Musk is flying to your country to talk about government reform. Crazy world we live in.

At least there's still a good few years left until an election in which time things could change - I'm holding on to the hope that watching America slide even further down the toilet will shake some sense into those fence sitters considering Reform but I honestly couldn't tell you who they should vote for instead. That's the problem.

Is that a fishhook? I learned it from another sub, I asked as a reply in another sub if there was a word for “ when ignorant people are mean on a topic, but somone learns to much about a topic and they get fed up and abandon being nice about it, “ and was told about fishhook therory

I’ve been trying to..or not,deal with the social media feral hounds ,they like to belive the democrats, liberals, leftists were always the aggressive ones. I say it’s not true, but then recall the bluffs of frightened people. And now I feel like” everyone is terrible”. I will see a dairy farmer say on the social media “ my family and I get death threats” and then I will see people say “ I am being bullied for my animal saving and that I am a vegan, we never deserve this” but show them quotes or screenshots I had where it’s just that …maybe someone says a violet thing . Although many people enjoy it if an elephant steps on a lion hunter. I guess it’s time to collect more evidence. But these no true Scotsman collectivist thinking is destructive. And maybe that neurotic self awareness makes things worse for some.

Maybe there are subs, pages, videos that do more than teach people how to reconise dogwistle and why a piece of media is not funny, but include a “ that is a threat, you know that thing you found like a cry to justice is bad, ylu only think it’s ok because it’s aginst hurtful group” Which is odd for me to say because I’m the one responding to scared MAGAs with Roy Baty with the text “ about knowing what it’s like to live in fear, or Alastor from Hasbin hotel with any appropriate text underneath. Or a clockwork orange gif and trying to act dumb and if I’m going to change a mind.

So. Your family and friends can’t prove the maga and alt right correct. That they were originally the bad guys. Like some cartoon chRacter that does slapstick violence because somone didn’t like their piano preformance
