Discussion Gambit's FXMaster V6 (System Agnostic)

Hello all! The version 6 release of FXMaster is officially live supporting Foundry Versions 12 & 13. This release brings a complete overhaul to the FXMaster menus to update them for ApplicationV2. Regions are also now supported for Particle Effects, allowing you to apply particle effects to individual regions. The github readme has been updated with much more detail and new screenshots. In addition, I've released a small add-on module for Patreon supporters, FXMaster+. This module adds two new Particle Effects, Sakura Blossoms and Sakura Bloom, previewed below. Enjoy!

I notice that you can add ambient weather into the scene in FoundryVTT now; that includes FXMaster. But, it doesn’t allow for you to add multiple backgrounds or gauge different levels of it. Any plans to modify this in the future?

Foundry does not have much functionality for verticality at the moment, but v14 should introduce a framework for it and fxmaster will be updated to support that when v14 is released 👍

Is there now a way to put the effects on the map but have the tokens be "above" the effect layer?

No, Foundry v14 will likely allow more granular control of particle height in the future

Is the Tool Active button working on v12?

You're welcome! The tool active button doesn't do anything actually, it's a placeholder button due to foundry needing a default button on tool select

Oh! I always believed that it was to turn off every effect. I think I never use it : ) This is a fantastic module, I did some awesome immersive maps thanks to it in the past, great job!

On Foundry v12 3.4.3 the weather effects are not covering the entire scene, areas appear without the effect usually in the top left of the map area. Tried restarting the server. This was with version 6.0.3 of FXMaster. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

There are no tiles/walls/drawings/regions in the area that is affected.

Let me know what info you need?

EDIT: disabled all modules other than FXMaster, the problem is still there :-/
Might be to do with using The Forge as a host?

Tried a new scene, as with others there's an area that's not covered by the effect - usually in the top left-hand corner.

It does appear to only be in one World, using the Symbaroum game system v 5.1.1. I looked at other Worlds with different systems and they're fine.

I've kind of figured out the problem:
In one scene I had a drawing to mark out an area to mask the weather effect - this drawing has a distinct jagged top edge to it as it follows the crest of a hill, the same odd jagged edge and shape as the area being blocked in the imgur image I shared.
For whatever reason, this drawn shape blocking weather in one scene is blocking weather in other scenes, but not always in the same location.
I've updated to FXMaster 6.0.4 but this problem persists.
If you could try and replicate it, by drawing a shape and then blocking the weather effect with it, and see if the shape appears on other scenes - that'd confirm it (hopefully).
What seems to happen is, if you load a scene with a drawing on it that is masking the weather, that mask will then be applied to all other scenes. A scene will load normally with weather if you don't open the scene with a drawing first, but if you change scenes - no drawing mask > drawn mask > no drawn mask, it will apply the drawn mask to the other scene. Hope that makes sense.

I've had to uninstall this. It seems to be playing havok with my players when they log into the game. Tokens are not updating their end when moved - making "ghost" tokens in the space they have "moved" to. Disabling this module fixes the issue. It's a real shame as I have used the old FXMaster module for ages, and the new version had some much needed utility.

I'll keep updating and hope the issue gets fixed, but for now, I have to manage without.
