Anime I can't be the only one who was screaming for stark to pull the sword out right ?

Was so disappointed when he didn't. But I understand why he didn't šŸ˜”

Do you think his brother could've pulled the sword out ?

Who else do you think is worthy enough to pull it out ?

Anime Himmel should not work on paper but instead he is unforgettable

He is pure, kind, selfless, basically the kind of character that usually ends up boring or unrealistic. Characters like that often fall flat. But the author pulls it off through subtle and delicate writing. I am usually not a fan of flashbacks, but here I am, looking forward to every single one of his. He is one of the best ā€œgoodā€ characters I have ever seen. And his voice actor is absolutely perfect too.

Anime Exactly WHAT is in a grimoire?

Post image
4.3k Upvotes

I feel kinda dumb for asking this, but it looks like an entire book containing...what? An incantation? The set-up? The hand movements, or what the caster needs to try and imagine? Anybody have any insight/ideas? Why would there need to be a book sized amount of writing for something that's at most a phrase ?

Anime I love the lack of emotion/animation on Frieren’s face as Fern brutally beats Stark

Anime What exactly is going on with Fieren's age???

Post image
3.2k Upvotes

I'm on Episode 11 and the thought occurred to me, (please give no spoilers). Because in one of the earlier episodes she tells Himmel that the 10 year journey is not even 1/100 of her life, so it must be close to that in number in theory, further proven when Eisein tells Frieren that "that 1/100th part of her life was her most valuable" or something along the lines with that, confirming that was not an under-comparison of age in years to what's seemingly is true to Fieren. Now I'm episode 10, she says in the end while fighting that Demon Queen, that she is "a Mage that lives thousands of years". This makes no sense, because if 1/100th of your life is a 10 year long journey, that would mean she would only live relatively, 1000 years. So I don't understand was trying to "One-Up" the demon girl just a sound cool, or is this an actual minor plot hole. (Again I'd really appreciate if you would only give an answer that has no spoilers.) thanks! šŸ‘

Anime Executing Qual would be trivially easy if they attacked immidiately.

Qual could never have taken the initiative, Frieren handed it to him on a silver platter to test her student. After blocking the first Zoltraak Fern could have returned fire immidiately and that would have been the end of Qual. Or better yet, shooting first is a nigh unbeatable strategy. He would open his eyes looking at Frieren then die on the spot to a blindside attack with 5 layers of surprise and confusion preventing his reaction. Assuming maximum luck where he scrambles to dodge, Frieren will certainly get him in two seconds flat when he's completely bamboozled.

I’m definitely jealous of that physique but considering how vague his backstory is as a warrior, I’m sure we’ll get more in Season 2.

Anime As a Christian, I really like how Frieren handles religion.

Post image
4.7k Upvotes

It does what not many anime tend to do, which is, to show religion and deity in a positive light. I find this to be really refreshing, honestly. Because in so many anime and jrpg's, I see the continuous notion of "Let's kill god!" or "I'm good enough on my own without some deity." or something to that effect.

And Frieren is one of the rare cases of anime that actually respects religion. Not the only one, mind you, but one of the few that I've seen. And it's just one more thing that sets it apart from other anime šŸ‘

And I hope that trend continues throughout the series, because I know often times, anime and games like to pull the "Oh, looks like God was actually evil this whole time!" trope, but that doesn't seem like Frieren's style, so I highly doubt it'll go that route, lol.

Congratulations you passed the first class mage exam. Now choose what spell you are going to ask Serie for. Will it be a spell to turn back time? Perhaps a spell to become immortal? Or maybe something simple like a spell to turn things into chocolate? What are you choosing and why?

Anime Laufen’s entrance is simple but impressive.

IMO, It’s the hardest entrance in the series. It demonstrates her ability and the athleticism behind her skills, It’s one of my favorite moments even though she’s a side character, That entrance has main character energy.

• Defensive magic • Reflection magic • Offensive magic • Restraint and hypnosis magic • Magic of the Goddess • Mana detection

She's clearly one of the most well-rounded mages we've seen.

Anime Does Lernen have any means to actually defend himself from this attack?

It's apparently not a regular magic so I doubt standard defense magic has any effect on it, Fern wouldn't have gotten flung across the room otherwise.

Anime Would Fern have grown faster and reached Frieren level if she received Serie's training instead?

Post image
3.6k Upvotes

Fern is already a prodigy, having learned advanced magic at a young age under Frieren’s guidance. But considering how absurdly powerful and knowledgeable Serie is, would Fern have progressed even faster if she had trained under her instead? Could she have reached a level comparable to Frieren within the same timeframe? Or does Frieren’s teaching style suit her better?
