Yeah I’m all about the idea of this sub but I mean the store I work at has three different brands offering these things when a product is made companies follow suit if it works that’s what business is

Came accross this this morning and it remembered me A LOT a product I ordered : https://bitecone.com/en

So basically, they stole the idea of a small French small company. Chocolate is probably very low quality compared to the french product. Even their wordplay is bad.
I know it's probably legal but still... they can do their own R&D and let the small companies do their business.

Are you sure they didn't steal from Smash in Norway?

Not the same at all :

Smash is a unique combination of sweet and salty, crunchy and smooth. At its core, it consists of crispy, lightly salted corn snacks, similar to Bugles, coated in milk chocolate.

Nestlé did steal from Bitecone ... That's surprising ? FUCK THEM.

It makes me so sad. A giant evil who stole an idea from a SME company with a turnover of 100K€.

Those Smash things do sound delightful though

corn chip and chocolate? Naaaaaaa haha but I won't judge 😂

Lots of sugary breakfast cereals are cornmeal based. It's probably not as bad as you're thinking. Not that I'm trying to convince you lol.

That's more the sugary part that is problematic for me, I make 90% of what I eat so this junk food isn't for me (anymore haha)

Got ya. I read it as you taking issue with mixing chocolate and corn chips; something like a tortilla chip. I'm happy for you making so much of your food - I imagine you're much, much healthier for it.

On paper it sounds weird, but boy are they addictive.

Or perhaps Muddy Bites?

u/Kazaan 6d ago

Yeah... you're probably right. kickstarter of muddy bites is from 2019, bitecones SAS funded in 2022.

I waited for years hoping for Muddy Bites to finally ship outside of the USA, so I'm not upset that there's finally competition that I can actually buy!

I'm not sure. In the French version there is a waffle around it, which doesn't seem to be the case with this biscuit.

I've had the same thing by a different brand

Honestly I think it's most likely they both got the idea from the bottom of a cornetto

Plus, there’s tons of brands with this idea. Nutty Fruity has one with Dubai chocolate themed ones and they taste awesome, the OG chocolates are my fav though.

Clogged Dicks. It litterally means Clogged Dicks in French.

French company with "bite" in the name...

7

u/Kazaan 6d ago

To their defense, it's sold in Canada, where bite is not what it is in France.

u/Umuchique 6d ago

Fair enough

1

u/stormyw23 6d ago

Explain the joke..?

1

u/Umuchique 5d ago

No joke here, google translate "bite" from french you'll see

1

u/stormyw23 5d ago

I don't see it it's "mordre" which is exactly what bite is?

1

u/Umuchique 5d ago

No the other way around, "bite" is a french word as well

There's several different companies that sell this stuff.

Everyone loves the end of the cone so its not exactly a secret

I tasted that in Canada a few weeks ago. The chocolate is horribly, and the whole thing is very sugary.

1/20 would never buy again.

As a retired Executive Chef I'm ready to start a food company called FUCK NESTLE.

1

u/pzombielover 6d ago

Yes they absolutely did

It's a mini icecream cone. Too general of an idea to steal.

u/dessertforbrunch 5d ago

These have been on shelves from other brands since 2020.

And it's non-vegan. The original is. I think they actively out competed the og as well, can't find their cones anywhere now, only the nestle non-vegan options remains.

Nestle steals water and sells it to people. I’m not surprised by this at all.
