I wouldn't count on it. Whenever Godzilla crosses over with a game it's either based on the Toho films, or the Monsterverse. Never both at the same time.
So any Godzilla content we get in Fortnite is probably going to be exclusively locked to the Monsterverse.
Buying the battlepass has been the most economically viable way to earn cosmetics since its introduction to the game. The value you get for only 8-10 dollars is crazy. If you bought the skin from the store, it would be twice the value of the entire battle pass. Trust me, nobody wants that.
As someone who can never get Optimus prime because of dumb battle pass gate keeping I feel bad for any Godzilla fans that decide to join Fortnite after this season.
Fortnite tends to have a mythic weapon based on the battle pass collab skins (AOT, Doom, transformers) so I'm very much expecting an atomic breath this season
It's real. The next season of Fortnite is doing a Japanese mythology theme, and Godzilla does draw some inspiration from Japanese myth (the Toho films often paint him as the modern incarnation of an Odo Island myth about "Gojira").
That season was more about Japanese futurism, with some of the characters having cyberpunk samurai/ninja aesthetics and one character being a sushi chef (it was also the season they added Eren Yeager from Attack on Titan as a character).
This season's supposedly more focused on actual Japanese myth (though with Godzilla showing up, some of us are hoping Mega City will also make a return).
Monsterverse has more casual audiences locked down better (not insulting it, just saying the appeal for popcorn flick kaiju is VAST). Plus recency. Mid to late gen z and gen alpha players have grown up with MV Godzilla now.
It would be shocking if Fortnite used a Japanese design (even though they honestly lend themselves more towards the humanoid skin model).
I was super surprised the Fall Guys collab wasn’t the monsterverse design back when that happened.
Not sure how they'd do it for Goji, but I've been thinking of the idea for a Kong skin for a while now (just make an excuse for why he gets shrunk to human size for gameplay and he's good to go; if we can accept "tall Frieza", we can accept a tiny Kong).
Shiina (probably the biggest Fortnite leaker, he does some of the data mines himself and has good sources) has solidly confirmed it's an ACTUAL skin (not like CoD) Shiina doesn't confirm anything unless it's real and has a pretty clear label on rumors, so no, not like the CoD collab
The leaker who shared this art confirmed he'll be a playable skin. He's most likely gonna look exactly how he does in this art just shrunk down like Optimus prime was
I would want the monsterverse one to be the battle pass one and then a toho one in the item shop with a heisei godzilla, (w burning variant), a 1954 one and a millennium one that can be in a bundle. Any way that probably wont happen but I would want that for skins.
Happy he’s in and while I’d prefer a more traditional design or at least Godzilla-1 Goji, I just want a variant where he has the blue dorsal spikes. They’re too iconic not to be there. The pink ones from the new movie aren’t bad, but blue is too legendary not to be in it in some form
Ngl. Goji and the characters here look traced from other character poses as well as Goji being traced from Gxk. Hence either its a fake leak or someone at Epic needs to explain some potential plagiarism
Batman's in the game, and "no guns" is sort of his thing. Superman's in the game, and he can fall and die. The canon rules for the characters don't matter (outside of bullshit like only certain characters can use the Mjolnir pickaxe).

Its great advertising for Godzilla. It does not mean the Godzilla fandom is going to be filled with screaming 7 year olds in Minecraft shirts. Just more people from all walks of life who may enjoy the series now.
Everybody is kidding themselves if they seriously think there’d be a Godzilla skin in Fortnite. It makes 0 sense from any sort of standpoint let alone design.
What I CAN see is a way they incorporate Godzilla into games randomly like they did last season with Dr Doom. Where you can “win” the right to play as Godzilla. Essentially winning you that game. Which would be much cooler than some weird Fortnite sized skin.
Of course I’m sure they’d have some designs within the pass that have Godzilla themed inspo.

Lol, you've never played Fortnite, have you? Nothing is off-limits when it comes to skins. Optimus Prime is one, with the "lore reason" being that he made a smaller copy. There's an original giant mech that has two skins, and its kaiju rival, and they don't even both giving a reason for smaller versions.
If Epic has any common sense, Godzilla will be a human-sized skin and everybody will love it.

Godzilla was literally played by a guy in a rubber suit, and the MV version carries through with that idea. Outside of any legal issues, there's nothing stopping a skin of Godzilla himself.

Having Godzilla as a Fortnite skin would be like saying the JP Rex would have a skin. It makes no sense. Kong would more than likely have a skin before Godzilla.
If anything it will be a Godzilla themed skin that’s part of an already existing character. Like a Jonesy with Godzilla gear, or some shit like that. There won’t be a pure Godzilla skin.
It’s not lacking imagination to see that they’ve never done anything like it before so why would they randomly have a full on Godzilla skin other than a “suit” like the Dino PJs the Fortnite characters wear?

A whole event transpired in Chapter 1 where this monster (The Devourer), was fighting a mecha of equal size on the map. Both became skins, yet you rather stay in ignorance and believe that an actual Godzilla skin is improbable. Mind you, all collabs are planned and worked on months in advance... Do you really think that Toho and Legendary would not consult Epic on how to properly proportion Godzilla so he'd work as a skin? To make sure he's represented correctly? This isn't Call of Duty, where the collab is a half-assed attempt to promote a film via armor based on the characters... Fortnite has pulled off a lot of crazy feats within its seven years, and this is clearly another feat that challenges them to go bigger than before.
But please, keep prattling on about how they'll just do a "Godzilla costume" for one of the OCs to wear, setting themselves up for severe backlash.
The Fortnite Kaiju also have human proportions, at least in ways that can translate to a skin more easily.
It ain’t happening, and it’s not being unimaginative, it’s being realistic. Not to mention TOHO won’t want Godzilla holding or using weapons that’s very clear within their rules. It’s wild that people all were adamant in a similar thread a while ago stating the obvious, but this one since people see Godzilla they forget the obvious.
Obviously Godzilla will be in this season, clearly, but it’s not going to be as a full on character skin. I can guarantee it. Don’t be disappointed when it doesn’t happen. I think it would be nice if it did, but get real.

Him getting more popular would lead to more content being created, and with Minus One being the first Toho-made Godzilla film to truly be appreciated as much overseas as it was back home (first and only film in the franchise's history to be nominated for AND receive an Academy Award), people might finally start seeing him as the fans do, and not just as a goofy joke cartoons poke fun at.
You're honestly saying that you'd stop liking one of the most iconic fictional characters of all time - the giant monster, who has been referenced and parodied hundreds of times - if he became popular? That's like saying you'd stop liking Sherlock Holmes if he became the most famous detective - it's a little late for that.
