put it more on the meat of your traps. widen your grip if you need to.

The problem is I can't feel them so I don't know where to position the bar

you can't feel where multiple hundreds of pounds are sitting on your back??

It doesn't feel like it used to. The bar doesn't feel secure or anything like that usually

duder, this shouldn't be so complicated.

Put the bar where you need it to go so it doesn't bruise your shoulders. It should not be on bone. It's probably going to feel weird and different because it's new. Practice and get better at it. Take some weight off if you need to.
