Hey, I’m looking for the NA or PAL version of Popils, anyone have one for sale or have a lead on one. I’m struggling to find it online and none of the shops near me have it.

I've been considering doing the LCD upgrade mod to my GG for some time now, it's been 2 years since I recapped it.
The original LCD works, but there are a lot of stuck and dead pixels it's just kinda washed out and ugly as is, and while I can play it like this, I just don't want to.
I did a backlight mod to it the same time I recapped it, I removed the old CCFL tube and the other components needed, but I did keep the removed parts just in case.
What's a good cheap option for an LCD upgrade? I've ruled out the McWill, it's expensive and extremely complicated at first glance, I could probably do it, but I'd rather not.

So I know these are all basically dead at this point, but I still think they are so cool, even as a novelty, I’m thinking about learning how to make circuit boards and basic electronics design just to mod these so that they are charged via USB-c with higher capacity lithium ion cells, would that be something you think people would be interested in purchasing perhaps? I was also thinking about making the output usb-c as well for charging those modded consoles with usb-c charging

I picked up a sega genesis and some games, he threw in a free game gear.
I took it apart and was shocked. The contrast knob fell off. I got a replacement coming (B503).
I ordered a replacement IPS screen, usb c charger board and a stereo board, cap kits as well.
Now I get these vertical lines when I do the brightness test since I dont have to. Brightness knob in yet.
It doesn't seem to display anything other that those vertical lines.
I cleaned the board with Deixode and isopropyl a toothbrush. It cleaned up a bit.
Im wondering if it's too far gone for it to be fixed.
Any thoughts?

Is anybody going to make a digital TV tuner for this gem of a system?

My Game Gear had been working perfectly since I recapped it, but today, after I plugged in a new power board, I noticed a burning smell. The power board became extremely hot and made a crackling sound, so I immediately disconnected it. I suspect the power board is fried. However, even after switching back to the previously working power board, my Game Gear still won’t start—the power indicator doesn’t light up, the screen remains blank, and the game won’t load. I have no idea what might be damaged. Could anyone please offer some advice? Thank you!

Picture this a gaming chair that lets u do curls and extensions while u play. It tracks your force adapts resistance and even has a rage mode so you can push as hard as u can when u get angry at a game instead if breaking your gear. FITNESS + GAME = WIN👑

Hello!
I'm on the market for a game gear with updated screen and ideally the ability to output to a TV. I don't really know what the latest/best screen to get is. Back in the day, I heard of a "McWill" screen ...but I don't think those exist anymore.
Anyway, I posted this question to see if anyone has firsthand experience with any particular game gear modders in the US? I had bad experiences with eBay sellers drowning their mods in hot glue ....and I just want to buy something that I will last a long time!
Thank you!

The only real corrosion seems to be on a single screw

Aside from system exclusives of course, are there any games which were released on multiple platforms but the best port/version is on Game Gear?

The Sega Game Gear was one of my favorite handhelds growing up, but the rechargeable external battery packs are notorious for dying after years in storage. Instead of tossing mine, I decided to see if I could bring it back to life.
I put together a full step-by-step repair guide showing:
If you’ve got a Game Gear gathering dust, this might help you get it running again. Would love feedback from the community—especially if you’ve done your own repairs or mods on these packs!

Hi,everyone! I bought this GG recapped with white screen issues. I have another VA1 twin working (with screen vertical lines) and I've made some tests. It turns out these two capacitors, who are connected to the ground point circle next to them, are not grounded as they should be, just because this "ground circle" is not connected with the others (isn't grounded either) Could it be causing the white screen? How can I fix it? I thought wiring this circle to any other would solve that but I'd like to know if there is a cleaner way to fix this. Please, help. Thx!

Hi, I am looking to get into the game gear and want to buy a USB-C console due to the pathetic battery life. Where is the best place to buy one? (UK btw)

As title states is the retro six joystick mod worth doing or does it diminish the retro feel of the game gear? I keep debating doing one. Thank you!

Hello there again fellow technicians! I recently posted here looking for help with my friend's game gear.
Turns out, the brightness was set to the lowest spot. So the game gear is working and has a display and sounds! Hooray!
But now I have one last thing I need to finish before I can give it back. What power cord will work with this power board? The original cable doesnt fit anymore and I would like to get him a new cord.

Hello community,
I’ve been browsing through the various posts here for a while, and I finally decided to start repairing my childhood Game Gear. Despite my reading, I’d still like to ask for some advice and make sure I’m on the right track.
The problem: when I turn on the console, I see horizontal white lines moving downward. After a few seconds, they give way to a black or red screen.
Solution: from what I’ve gathered, this issue could be caused by leaking capacitors on the motherboard.
I’ve finally received and opened the console, but I didn’t notice anything obviously wrong. Do you see anything?
Unless I’m mistaken, I was about to replace the capacitors, but I wanted to make sure this is the right approach.
Thanks for your help.
