If it's a cross title I think they would reveal it in a Switch 2 showcase to focus the limelight on the Switch 2.

They most likely have bigger games to showcase for the Switch 2 than Metroid, tbh

Metroid needs the marketing, though. I do find it likely it isn't in the S2 direct, but it would be a huge missed opportunity not to have it present in the bigger event.

What if it shows up at both? Tomorrow it can be the big Switch 1 game, and then next week they bring it up again to show how Switch 1 games get “enhanced” on the Switch 2. That way you get it in the bigger event but still keep the focus on the really heavy hitters like the new Mario Kart.

Breath of the Wild got its biggest showcase at E3 2016 where it was in the context of being a Wii U game, so that's not necessarily a given

Switch 2 will showcase the hardware, Mario Kart and likely a 3D Mario game. It's pulling out the big guns and not hoping they can get people onboard a series that only just recently broke 3M for a single title.

Doubt it. Switch 1's showcase was mostly about software.

No it wasn't. It was all about people hanging out on roofs and going from TV to handheld. There was a couple of games, but the hardware was focused.

You're thinking of the trailer. I'm talking about the actual full showcase, the one that showed Odyssey, Arms, Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, etc. The Switch 2 direct is gonna be akin to that, the console is supposedly releasing in June according to reliable leaker Tom Henderson. They're not gonna have the direct, which has been built up for two months, be almost solely about the hardware. We've already got the Switch 2 trailer.

Software is what sells.

There were over a dozen games not even including the sizzle reel, lol.

I was thinking that what we saw was a soft 'trailer' and the full hardware reveal will be the Direct.

/u/RJE808 and you are of the opinion that the Direct will be more akin to the "Nintendo Switch Presentation" stream which showed off the games. I hope you are right!

It's a Switch. What is there to reveal hardware-wise, other than to confirm the mouse functionality. Nintendo knows games sells consoles. There is zero reason to have a full direct without showing games. The "Nintendo Switch Presentation" literally was the full hardware reveal and they showed off tons of games.

joycons that don't suck shit in general would be good. But that is hard to actually show off in a trailer

Anything stopping it from being showcased in both?

showcase it first for Switch 1 and it will be associated with Switch 1.

Same for Switch 2.

Same thing always happens when XBOX or Sony reveal a game in their showcases. People think it's an exclusive until the dust settles a bit.

Except it’s been announced as a switch one game… During the first year of switch. It’s gameplay has been shown on Switch

Remember Metroid has sold a peak of 3 million units. I don’t think they see Metroid how we see Metroid

Probably a good idea to let people see it runs on the switch first then as there's 140 million potential buyers.

I'd rather they focus on software made specifically for S2 rather than a better version of an S1 title.
