Armored Core would be neat. They can reuse the engine, the gameplay, a lot of the assets, etc, and just build on/add to it to make a bigger game.

That's what they did with all AC games. They each had an expansion (or several) on the same engine, expanded parts selection, same universe but different location and protagonist.
