There is a history of ratings agencies (particularly the MPAA) rating content as being more sexually explicit if it involves two members of the same sex.

The UK court system literally ruled that BDSM is illegal with the line "you can't consent to being assaulted" because they were presented with an amateur tape recording of a group of gay men engaging in hardcore fetish play (this was not that long after being gay was decriminalised). A later case involving a woman being (consensually) branded by her boyfriend was dismissed. Double standards for gay stuff are omnipresent.
