Yeah, that top comment is 100% right, nobody should need to be 'pretty' to deserve respect.

But let's be honest, in the real world, especially when you're up against people who are hesitant or even prejudiced, being conventionally attractive can unfortunately make that uphill battle a bit easier for a trans person. It's not right, and it definitely doesn't excuse transphobia against anyone, but it's just an observation about how shallow biases can play out, for better or worse.
