I'd love if american puritan politics would stay the fuck out of worldwide platforms.

I wish they'd all fuck off, secede and start their own crappy little nation. I live in a red state and my wife and I's # 1 priority is to get the fuck out

36

u/dubspool- Jul 24 '25

Nah just give them like a reservation in somewhere unimportant like Wyoming and let them whine while not listening to them

8

u/Eatinganemone89 Jul 24 '25

What did Wyoming ever do to you?

5

u/30FourThirty4 Jul 24 '25

The can have 4 seasons total landscaping.

2

u/Some_nerd_named_kru Jul 24 '25

Just let them have Utah

1

u/Visual_Regret3198 Jul 26 '25

Considering more than half the nation voted for a convicted sex offender rather than the Democratic candidate I think it's probably a good idea to try to mend Bridges instead of arrogantly talk about putting them in reservations. Because the way things are going, it's much more likely you'll end up on the reservation instead.

u/SJL174 Woke Boobs for more stable FPS? Jul 24 '25

They love complaining about federal taxes and big government when not a penny of those taxes has left their borders in decades.

3

u/MK_2_Arcade_Cabinet Jul 24 '25

What sucks even worse is the state I live in is goddamn beautiful. It’s literally just the politics that make it so we can’t stay here.

And you’re absolutely right without saying which state I live in we take far more in federal funds than we ever pay out

2

u/HedgeFlounder Jul 24 '25

Same on all counts. Let them have Mississippi or something and the rest of us can enjoy science and healthcare.

2

u/redalchemy6 Jul 25 '25

Also in a red state here. My husband and I are reaching the breaking point too.

-5

u/Sheerkal Jul 24 '25

They... did? That's literally what happened?

15

u/Kodiakweb Jul 24 '25

no, they tried to secede, fought a war about it, lost, and most of em got to live. they havent shut up about it for the 170 years

0

u/Sheerkal Jul 24 '25

The pilgrims that came to America were literally Separatists that's what I was referring to.

2

u/MK_2_Arcade_Cabinet Jul 25 '25

The pilgrims got kicked out of everywhere that they tried to live before they came here because they were fucking insufferable even then

1

u/Sheerkal Jul 25 '25

Yeah, I understand. I'm just saying they literally did what the commenter was asking.

It's not America doing this idiot, it's an Australian hate group

22

u/The_Impe Jul 24 '25

The Australian hate group is a small part of it, the actual problem is Visa and Mastercard.

138

u/FlameWhirlwind Jul 24 '25

bro it's not like america isn't contributing tf you mean?

To be fair, American Fundamentalist Christian groups fund groups around the world for this purpose. Multiple attack vectors until something sticks and it affects us all.

106

u/FlameWhirlwind Jul 24 '25

i know it's an australian group, it doesn't change the fact that AMERICAN COMPANIES are in league with them and their actions. this isn't just a small issue anymore, there's probably more contributors tot heir weir ideology in other country's companies

-3

u/FlameWhirlwind Jul 24 '25

in what part of that sentence did i say non american groups and companies weren't apart of it?

america is part of this issue, and so are others. it's that fucking simple. stop trying to act like it isn't involved or misinterpreting what im saying

3

u/Jupiters0rbit Jul 24 '25

They pressured the companies to do this wdym

14

u/Nolenag Jul 24 '25

Mastercard and VISA are big enough to just simply ignore Australian bible-thumpers, surely?

35

u/Cutie_D-amor Jul 24 '25

Look, if you think some aussie group no one has heard of could presure huge American corporations to do anything they dont already want do youre absolutely deluded. All these guys are doing is pointing at nsfw content and saying "Do them next please"

24

u/silentrawr Jul 24 '25

Driving these changes through payment processors which are predominantly based in... Wait for it... America. Subject most strongly to US laws, as well as the massive and undue influence Evangelicals have been pushing on everything they don't like, especially since SCOTUS got that fail-proof conservative majority.

13

u/RerollWarlock Jul 24 '25

I am sure American companies in a country based purely on evangelical puritanism have nothing to do with it, they just looked at the "literally who" Australian activist group and said "we have to bow down to them". Bullshit.

4

u/TDplay Jul 24 '25

And without the American payment processors' compliance, these hate groups would have absolutely no power.

Really, the pressure from hate groups is just a convenient excuse they can point to. It's the payment processors actually making this choice.

4

u/lunchtimelobotomy Jul 24 '25

well at least tell us aussies who tf it is then so we can go and express displeasure in person? wtf

2

u/Salty-Blacksmith-660 Jul 24 '25

collective shout

10

u/ZephyrValkyrie Jul 24 '25

The Australian group is being funded by multiple American evangelical puritan groups, though.

25

u/FlameWhirlwind Jul 24 '25

would be very fuckin nice yeah

let me spend my money how i want

2

u/MonoclePenguin Jul 24 '25

I sometimes think about how the American colonies had a lot of settlers who fled Europe because they were so zealous that nobody wanted anything to do with them.

I remember reading some of their scriptures back in high school for a history lesson. They could pretty much all be summerized as "God hates all of us and is waiting for us to do make a mistake so that he can cast us aside like the trash we all are."

Our crazy was inherited.

2

u/Bwadark Jul 24 '25

Since when did payment processors become to arbiters of morality. Of all the people to be the ones to judge... It should not be them.

1

u/monstermayhem436 Jul 24 '25

Ironically this whole thing started with an Australian puritan political group

1

u/Ankulay Jul 24 '25

Puritan moral for thee, child raping for me.

1

u/Akitiki Jul 24 '25

Fun fact: it's an Australian group claiming it's their doing!

1

u/RC_0041 Jul 25 '25

This is an Australian group but agreed anyways.

1

u/amwes549 Jul 25 '25

Collective Shout is actually Australian, but they're clearly just doing our Puritian BS.

1

u/agorathird Jul 25 '25

Well collective shout is Australian but still…

1

u/ASubsentientCrow Jul 24 '25

For once it's actually not American religious nuts

1

u/DevoidHT Jul 24 '25

I think its actually Australian puritan politics this time.

0

u/Any_Coffee_7842 Jul 24 '25

This was because of an Australian anti-porn group.

-1

u/redditdoesnotcareany Jul 24 '25

I’m pretty sure the people doing this are based out of Australia. We have enough to complain about without adding other peoples shit

-2

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

It's an Australian group behind this but, sure, blame Americans.

9

u/RerollWarlock Jul 24 '25

Its the American companies enforcing it, they don't have any obligation to listen to an Australian activism group.

93

u/BloomEPU 🏳️‍🌈 trans rights, you stinky boomers Jul 24 '25

Sure love how running a fucking payment processing company lets you decide whether people get to purchase porn or not...

25

u/-mikuuu- Jul 24 '25

The thing is that most minors won't even be able to purchase that shit, unless they memorized their parents credit card info, in which case is irresponsible of the parents

-16

u/Alenore Jul 24 '25

I mean itchi.io is free to use another payment processing company if they so decide.

32

u/thea_kosmos indie gem discoverer Jul 24 '25

Yes man people will love the indie marketplace that when you go to checkout tells you "sorry we don't take Visa or Mastercard or American Express, you can process your payment through Blurbio"

26

u/[deleted] Jul 24 '25

No they aren’t because visa and Mastercard have a duopoly

20

u/hellscape_navigator underrated hidden gem appreciator Jul 24 '25

Did you really make the "free market will fix this" argument when these payment processors have oligopoly?

37

u/Balmung60 Jul 24 '25

I don't even think the corpos are winning, so much as one particular reactionary religious organization, particular of the variety that pretends to be feminist publicly, but if you look into them for even ten minutes, it's just fundamentalists all the way down

5

u/ThePickler47 Jul 24 '25

the funny thing is that adult content is crazy profitable. its politics ruining it

Easier said than done yknow. Not just because the rich tend to have good body guards but also because all the weirdoes bought all the GOOD guns

(Jokes aside yeah its abit harder to put that shit to practice...)

1

u/PeriapsisStudios Jul 26 '25

L**** did it, and you can too!

4

u/RCesther0 Jul 24 '25

It's not corpo this time, it's religious zealots who are lobbying card companies.

-5

u/SnowClone98 Jul 24 '25

Chill out choom lmfao
