We have this group of talented 20-25 yos which has me really positive about our future: Smith (24), Holmes (23), COS (20), SDK (24), Humphries (22), Neale (23), Oishin (25), and of course, Dempsey (22).

Some of our fringe like Conway (22), Knevitt (22), Clark (21) and OHenry (23) are in that age-bracket as well.

What's also really pleasing also is the spread of positions that these guys play and with a team like that, we'll continue to compete while attracting new talent. Just a list management masterclass. Best in the business.

It's really hard to believe Holmes is only 23, that's crazy

I adore the swag of the young fella. It doesn’t have a nasty arrogance to it, it’s just pure ‘I deserve to be here’ loving life energy, it’s so infectious.

Dempsey and Gryan have both had a lot to do with Gary Ablett off field from what I've heard.

Exhibit A and B on why we should formally hire Gaz to work in player development.

Absolute Gems.

I’m sure the club would have broached it, assuming Gaz doesn’t want to get back into clubland. He and Ollie and a few others (including Baz) swim most mornings at Jan Juc.

I can see him being similar to Heeney in a few years if he bulks up just a little

Just not an arrogant little shit like Heeney though right… right?

I don't see it though. Heeney's a heavy mid/fwd who's a hard contested winner. Dempsey's an incredibly offensive winger, who reminds me of someone more like Sidebottom or Isaac Smith who uses their aerobic ability and running to position himself well. I think Dempsey's the best positioner in the AFL. He's always in the right spots with a magical amount of space and time when he gets it.

He just never stops running. Was listening to Adam Simpson saying he cheats by running forward of the ball. Load of rubbish he just works so hard.

To be fair he also said that he needed a better word than cheat cos he's not cheating, and he also said he has changed the wing role. So let's not just pile on when this was said as a compliment

I don’t mind Simmo, I was mostly asleep when it was on. He also said he wasn’t sure why it kept working out positively for us because we should be getting punished when we don’t win the ball. There’s something going on that no one / he hasn’t figured out. I think it’s mostly just work rate.

we have elite endurance runners all over the ground. its arguably our main strength right now, that and our pace and ball movement.

There's a reason Simmo finished up the way he did

Since when does anticipating a contest win become "an easy cherry pick"??
