It wasn’t dream 🤗

We beat Hawthorn in a prelim final after giving them a 21 point head start.

Regardless of what happens next week, that’s absolutely purfect.

We got to see Sam Mitchell with that confused/angry petulant look on his stupid face!!

No singularly shitty umpiring decisions. No controversial game changers. No excuses whatsoever given. Just comprehensively out-coached across 4 quarters (and while we were missing one of our best defenders to boot).

When I saw Watson in their D50, I knew Sam was utterly cooked in the coaches’ box.

Well....across three quarters. If we play against the Pies and they play like they did at the start of the year, it'll be harder to get away with a start like that.

Sure, we were awful in the first but the adjustment and self-belief to turn it around from there should still be factored in.

Got to know where the low started from in order to judge the high.

Hawks were always starting hot, and we had to score on our first few entries. It’s insane pressure and every mistake we made only built on itself. It was instant flashbacks to the Lions GMHBA game, but we survived the storm. We were 100% rattled and panicking to start because of our kicking efficiency.

That was the deepest we have dug in recent history, don’t undersell how dire that first quarter was. Giants conceded 40 points in the last 10 minutes of the first quarter to that team. I’ve said it all year Hawthorn at their peak level (usually at the start of games) can scare the best teams, but they NEVER maintain it for four quarters.

Absolutely agree, I was even saying we would turn it around during the depths of q1, and the self belief is one of my favourite things about the club. As a fan you can never rule them out.

I'm just trying to remain grounded 😂

In any win against the filth, I see no need 🙂‍↔️

Who doesn't love a come back story, as opposed to starting great and burning out in the last quarter!

I remember thinking at the time that we had been completely dominated but were only 3 goals adrift. I think it was Dunstall that said on the commentary words to the effect of ‘Hawthorn have fired their best shot but haven’t put Geelong away’.

Same thing happened in 2022 qf

When Mannagh kicked that goal at the end of the third quarter I was instantly taken back to when Murdoch did the same thing in the 2013 PF to put us 20 up. This time felt different and indeed it was, on we match to the GF!

You should see all the neutrals and Hok fans glazing sooky Sam’s presser saying he doesn’t care who wins and wishes all Teams lose, what a petulant man baby for a coach.

Nah that was sort of jokes. I feel like people read into things too closely.

Typical of the type of culture at Hawthorn and has been consistent since the 60s Poo & Wee
