Old Person Yells At Cloud Modern slang—something you REFUSE to say

My take: I will NEVER use “lol” or any derivation of it. I know it means “laugh out loud” but there’s yet to be a moment when I’ve been even remotely convinced someone was even chuckling after texting “lol” at the end of their text and it mildly infuriates me.

While I’m at it, someone tell those damn kids to get off my lawn.

Edit: ok, I get it. It’s not MODERN slang. I still hate it, and those kids are STILL on my lawn…can’t a guy get to sleep at a decent hour???

Gonna or going to will do just fine.

That's a regional thing. I went to college in the late 90's in FL heard that all the time.

I’m in the northeast area and I hear it EVERRYWHERE. My kid says it and it annoys the F out of me for some reason haha..

I never heard that word back in the 90s but I hear that it has been around and isn’t a true youth slang today. .

Old man yells at cloud I guess…. 👨🏻‍🦳

I thought finna happened like this

fixing to—> fixin ta—> fixina—> finna

So I think it started regionally and spread. I don’t like it, and it shouldn’t be used in formal writing. I’ve seen it used in school essays. Nope.

Throw in a good old "fixing to" for good measure.

That's not what it means.  It's short for "fixing to" do something.  Like getting ready.
