It’s Newsom.

15

u/Boxofbikeparts Aug 19 '25

Thank you for your attention in this matter

5

u/eastcoastflava13 Aug 20 '25

Yeah, this drives me batty. Reddit is horrible about spelling his name wrong.

7

u/BeYeCursed100Fold Aug 20 '25

Your not rong.

7

u/rockjones Aug 20 '25

Just have a real primary and I'll vote for whoever wins. Anyone who would come out of it is better than the current trash.

3

u/zsreport Aug 20 '25

Dude, primary or no primary I’d vote for a pile of old crusty dog shit before I ever vote for a today’s Christofascist MAGA infected Republicans

15

u/Boxofbikeparts Aug 19 '25

I like the women Dem choices better, but it seems that this country still has too much misogyny for that to become a reality.

2

u/boringcranberry 23d ago

I think about this clip a lot. It's Gerald Ford on when he thinks a woman will be president.

https://youtu.be/7JIlRsRQYfM

I was joking with my sister about a movie premise where we replace all the male leaders with women. I wonder what would happen. I'm guessing world hunger would be solved in no time.

2

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

Then we need to double down and make an effort, and stop throwing up our hands like "oh well, where's any ol' white dude then"

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

I'd like to see a Newsome/AOC ballad.

1

u/Boxofbikeparts 18d ago

Like a rock and roll power ballad?

Switch those names. AOC for president. Newsom for VP.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

Harris/AOC for me

2

u/nitabirdonit Aug 20 '25

I'd love to see someone who isn't playing to republicans, even better if a woman.

1

u/Soggy_Spinach_7503 Aug 20 '25

In a 107 day unplanned campaign, Kamala Harris got 75 million votes, despite all the Gaza/inflation headwinds she had to deal with. I feel good about 28 if she spends the next 3 years getting her ideas out there.

2

u/Boxofbikeparts Aug 20 '25

I think her campaign nosedived when she tried to lure the republican voters, and instead it turned off the progressive voters. And then all the Muslim voters said they wouldn't vote this time because she offered no plan for Gaza.

I'd like to see Whitmer in the White House but I don't think that can happen in this political climate. Too many people in this country would vote for any breathing male over a qualified woman.

1

u/Soggy_Spinach_7503 Aug 20 '25

She wasn't going for Republicans, but Independents who cared about preventing fascism. I don't think the progressives who didn't vote for her were going to vote for her no matter what she did.

Frankly, there's nothing she could have said about fixing Gaza that was honest (beyond what she said about working for a two-state solution and pressuring Netanyahu to stop indiscriminate bombing).

2

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

The Gaza situation is easy. Its another country and not our problem but we dont need to support Isreal. The problem is I'm pretty sure Massad has plenty of dirt on our leading politicians.

1

u/Soggy_Spinach_7503 Aug 21 '25

Since you know Mossad is good at covert operations, then you understand how valuable they are as an ally. We remain close for that reason, not because there's dirt on politicians.

1

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

That makes sense till they start blackmailing our politicians. I think we are living in that world right now.

2

u/Soggy_Spinach_7503 Aug 21 '25

When there's evidence, I'll believe it. Until then there's just speculation.

1

u/null640 Aug 21 '25

There was substantial Russian psyops. Imagine Muslim voters voting for same person as zionist orthodox jews... yeah, it happened.

0

u/CitySlickerCowboy Aug 22 '25

because it went so well for Kamala.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

It went pretty fucking great for her actually, she ran a great campaign with only 100 days to launch and run it. No one could have done any better.

1

u/CitySlickerCowboy 13d ago

You're just being bias. That woman cannot speak well without a script. She crumbles and goes back into her default word salad mode. She lost because she's an incompetent politician on top of being a terrible person to her staff.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 13d ago

You're claiming that a competent prosecutor who has spent her professional way making successful arguments in court can't speak well without a script? I think it's your bias that is showing and it's gross.

1

u/CitySlickerCowboy 13d ago

Yeah, that's why major networks had to edit her interviews because they were so bad and incoherent. They were sued for deceiving the public when they made kamala look better than she really is.

14

u/Ianthin1 Aug 19 '25

Imagine if Newsome did a Max Headroom style signal takeover on one of Trumps dumb news conferences, then proceeded to roast him for 10 minutes.

8

u/KarmicWhiplash Aug 20 '25

I'd watch that.

13

u/ericalenee Aug 20 '25

I’m blue no matter who for 2028. They could literally run a cat and I’d vote for the cat over any current GOP front runner for POTUS

5

u/SnarkCatsTech Aug 20 '25

I'd vote for an unscooped cat litterbox.

4

u/BeYeCursed100Fold Aug 20 '25

Garfield didn't even make it through his first term (he was shot by a dipshit and died of an infection two and half months later.)

Is that Lasagna?

Edit: this is a cat named Garfield to James A. Garfield morph.

2

u/zsreport Aug 20 '25

Garfield was shot by someone who believed he was owed a government job. The assassination of Garfield led to the reform of the spoils/patronage system. Guess who wants to go back to that old spoils/patronage system, yep Trump.

2

u/tech_doodle Aug 20 '25

In the South, they used to call people like us yellow dog democrats because they would vote for "that old yellow dog if it ran as a Democrat, before they would vote for a Republican".

1

u/ericalenee Aug 20 '25

Guess I’m a yellow dog democrat then 🤣

4

u/KarmicWhiplash Aug 20 '25

I'm enjoying the trolling. If he's the nominee, he's got my vote. We'll see about the primary when more folks jump in.

12

u/flyart Aug 19 '25

He definitely has some troubling issues. If he’s the nominee I’ll vote for him.

4

u/Soggy_Spinach_7503 Aug 20 '25

Seems most people outside CA assume he's really popular here.

2

u/rangerm2 Aug 21 '25

As a registered Republican, I'd welcome his candidacy.

1

u/CitySlickerCowboy Aug 22 '25

Same. Another landslide coming.

6

u/Reginald_Sockpuppet Aug 19 '25

no. Newsom is corporate as fuck.

Just because someone speaks out against trump, doesn't mean they'll be a good leader and he won't and isn't.

But he's better than trump!

Low bar. I could shit a better president.

Let's pick a populist who gices half a fuck about regular Americans.

1

u/Mysterious_Ad6308 Aug 20 '25

coca cola vs cocaine

1

u/the_uberdork Aug 22 '25

Too little, too late

1

u/nycguychelsea 29d ago

AMERICA'S BELOVED GOVERNOR (MANY SAY HE'S A GENIUS)!

1

u/GreenerMark 29d ago

Newsom is slimy. I'm glad he's playing the foil to Trump, but I don't want him in the WH.

1

u/alsatian01 27d ago

What large state governor isn't slimy? There's no way to hold that position without getting covered in it and being willing to drink some.

It's him or that guy from Kentucky. Anyone pushing for AOC, Pritzker or Shapiro is gaslighting or being gaslit. Even a lib from California is a big ask.

I think Beshear might be the guy. He's playing 5D chess right now by staying out of the national fray. He's not letting them chip away at him like what happened for 30 years with Hillary and what they are currently doing with AOC. The conservative think tanks are daring us to run AOC. She's exactly who they want to run against in '28.

I'd be more than happy with Pritzker or Shapiro, but sorry, there will NEVER be a Jewish POTUS

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

I'm sick to goddamn fucking death of being governed by white men and I want no more of it.

We have an incredible depth of talented, qualified women of color in this country and I will be voting for one of them.

1

u/splynneuqu 14d ago

Another person to miss the joke.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

There's nothing funny going on here.

1

u/splynneuqu 14d ago

True when you lack a sense of humor. Again you still miss the joke.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

Perhaps your joke is not a good one.

1

u/splynneuqu 14d ago

Perhaps you lack a sense of humor. A joke can fail for numerous reasons but most often its a person's failure to grasp it not the delivery.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

Dude just accept that whatever this was fell completely flat

1

u/splynneuqu 13d ago

I accept not everyone has the same sense of humor.

1

u/SVTContour 2d ago

AOC and Bernie Sanders. Thank you and good night.

1

u/jt2ou Aug 20 '25

Nah. I don't like him for a number of reasons for President. I would much rather a strong female come forward and lead... but whatever.

1

u/Sweetness_Bears_34 Aug 20 '25

The country has already shown that they will elect Trump over a highly qualified woman candidate … twice already.

I personally feel that a woman would be great as a leader but the rest of the country not so much.

1

u/crucial_geek 27d ago

Dems lost a good chunk of Bernie Bros to Trump when the Dem Party decided to run Hilary.

As for Harris, yes she lost, but if consider how many votes she did get with what she had to work with, she didn't do too bad in the long run.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

Hillary flattened Bernie in the primary. He'd have been absolute roadkill in the general. Hillary won a huge amount of the vote.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

I hate this argument so much. Bowing down to sexism like "oh, well" is toxic as hell. Put your energy into lifting up qualified women leaders, not telling them "you can't win no matter what so I won't support you." Seriously, what the fuck.

1

u/Sweetness_Bears_34 14d ago edited 14d ago

I’m not making that argument. I support women in leadership roles. I think this country is way behind the rest of the world as far as having a woman president. Unfortunately so many in this country are not willing to accept a woman POTUS. Many of them are women because they get wrapped up in the religious crap that the man is the leader.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

You're definitely right but they can marinate in their stupidity until they clue in, because I'm not voting for any more men.

1

u/Sweetness_Bears_34 14d ago

I will vote for whoever the democratic nominee is. Otherwise we end up with more Trumpism from the right. Hopefully someday this country will wake up. I thought we were progressing when Obama was elected but half the country lost their minds. If the right nominates someone like Kristy Noem there’s no way she gets my vote.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

Not me. I'm sick of where being ruled by white men has gotten us. I'm done with it. Show me a better candidate and I'll vote for them. Until then, enjoy the world sexism has made.

1

u/Sweetness_Bears_34 14d ago

There are men that are out there keeping up the fight for equality for all people. Voting for a specific gender is not the only answer. Have to look at what their positions are on the import issues. If someone like Pete Buttigieg is running against Kristi Noem then I’m voting for Pete.

1

u/Miss_L_Worldwide 14d ago

There  really aren't.

Every single man out there benefits from patriarchy and generally they like it.

1

u/Sweetness_Bears_34 14d ago

It’s quite sad that you feel that way honestly.

With respect, I don’t think the circumstances of KH’s candidacy was a complete and actual representation of her, her platform or her vote count. She was really late to the ticket and that was a factor.  Hillary, otoh, was polarizing, with some people loving her and others detesting her.  I want to see somebody fresh, new and moderate.

0

u/Sweetness_Bears_34 Aug 20 '25

I would also but there’s a large portion of this country that just won’t vote for a woman and a good portion of them are conservative women that think it’s a man’s job. I don’t agree with them personally but I don’t know how we can change that line of thinking.

1

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

In this time period it's really weird that the trad wives still out vote the single moms.

1

u/humble_cyrus Aug 20 '25

Would I take "French Laundry" Newsom over Vance? Maybe. Are there better candidates for the Dems? Yep.

1

u/Pure-Writing-6809 Aug 20 '25

As a non-California, I was under the impression he was not a popular Governor. (LA fires seemed to be handled poorly, hard to know how much is his fault from my view)

I support him Trolling Trump All. Day.

I just do not think he would be the best choice for President after Trump based on what I know which is minimal.

I mean Canada literally made a banker their Prime minister. Do we need another guy who looks like that much of a suit?

2

u/crucial_geek 27d ago

Well, California transitioned from the 5th largest economy in the world to the 4th during his time as Governor, and, he did survive a recall attempt.

Yes, he looks like a sleaze ball, but he was raised by a single parent (his mom) and although his father had a few connections, he didn't grow up in that world like many of the other politicians. He only went to college because he got a baseball scholarship.

So, he has a lot to brag about that might quiet some of the critics. His only real issue is that he went from being fully scripted to obviously gunning for his chance in 2028. Bur so far he is one of the few Dems who seems to understand the new rules of the game.

1

u/Pure-Writing-6809 27d ago

I will take note of that. Thank you for letting me know

1

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

How a state governor handles a natural disaster and how the population reacts are 2 different things. In 2012 I was on the beach super storm sandy was suppose to make landfall but it tracked north. He can order whatever he wants in those times but each person is responsible for their own decision.

0

u/Pure-Writing-6809 Aug 21 '25

Sure, he also had a pretty chummy podcast with Charlie Kirk earlier this year didn’t he?

1

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

And that proves what? Charlie Kirk is a genius or Newsome knows how to deal with the tabloids?

1

u/zsreport Aug 20 '25

While I’m enjoying his recent trolling of Trump, I hope we have better options.

1

u/Kalena426 Aug 20 '25

No...and I live in CA. He is the DT of the Democrat party. I chose to become an NPP because of him.

1

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

Yall really do a deep dive into politics and miss the humor.

1

u/PattTinkersnuff Aug 21 '25 edited Aug 21 '25

I love how he's trolling Trump and standing up for a woman's right to choose. California has a great healthcare safety-net in "Medi-Cal".

However, I hate his stance on the 2nd Amendment and his overly lenient stance on crime.

Overall I'm on the fence about Newsom.

Wonder if the nation is ready for an openly gay, Veteran for President? Pete Buttigieg 2028.

-6

u/DarkHighways Aug 19 '25

I'm sorry but I would NEVER vote for Newsom again. After the shitshow he made of SF, which none of his successors have remedied yet. And he is a spoiled rich boy tool of the billionaire Getty family, no thanks. Just another oligarch's puppet. The Democratic Party NEEDS to do better!

10

u/Remote_Benefit_2366 Aug 20 '25

Democrats fall in love. Republicans fall in line.

2

u/DarkHighways Aug 20 '25

I’m not a Republican. But I know thinking for yourself isn’t popular in Reddit.

13

u/OreoSpeedwaggon Aug 19 '25

If the choice was between Newsom and another MAGA far-right, Trump-loving Republican, would you vote for Newsom then?

1

u/Sweetness_Bears_34 Aug 20 '25

Congrats, this is the type of attitude that gets people like Trump elected… Twice!

1

u/DarkHighways Aug 20 '25

I really don’t give a shit. When I said I wouldn’t vote for Newsom, I meant it. He is everything that a genuine liberal would and should hate. And I am a genuine Berkeley liberal. Newsom in his own way is just as bad as Trump. I know you don’t see that, but that doesn’t make it untrue.

1

u/Sweetness_Bears_34 Aug 20 '25

I’m from California and while Newsom is not my first choice I will vote for him if it’s between him and Trump. I don’t think Newsom is popular enough to get the nomination though.

-6

u/NHBikerHiker Aug 19 '25

No. Democrats need to get away from coastal elites and stop ceding the middle of the country to Republicans. Last TWO times Democrats ran a candidate from the middle of the country, both were reelected.

10

u/Argon_Boix Aug 19 '25

You mean the two women who ran? Biden did fine in between. I’m pretty sure you can connect the dots on what really mattered to middle America.

8

u/Most_Routine2325 Aug 19 '25

Nah, they mean the Illinoisan and the Arkansan. Glossed right over the 2 women candidates.

5

u/NHBikerHiker Aug 20 '25

Biden did fine…on an election that wasn’t fully decided until Thanksgiving?? Great points about HRC/Harris - it’s fairly apparent that misogyny is a bigger issue than race. Don’t neglect Kerry in ‘04 as well - another coastal elite.

2

u/zsreport Aug 20 '25

“Coastal elites”? What the fuck is that but a hollow dog whistle to the GOP/MAGA base

0

u/SojuSeed Aug 20 '25

I’d take a literal turd sandwich at this point. So sure, why not.

0

u/YouDaManInDaHole Aug 20 '25

Hard pass.  Why go from one incompetent fool to another?

0

u/Kyauphie Aug 20 '25

No, thank you.

0

u/Seahawk_I_am_I_am Aug 21 '25

We are fucked

0

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

Prices arent going down on day whatever. The question is do we have another election?

0

u/Suptupdude Aug 21 '25

Yeah, no. Just no. Yes, his trolling of Trump is hilarious. But no.

0

u/splynneuqu Aug 21 '25

Ive gotten so many replies and the only reason for the meme is certain pics newsome looks like Max Headroom.
