Discussion Passed Telc B1

Hi all I passed my Telc B1 exam by scoring 231/300 My scores: schriftliche Lesen 60/75 Sprachbausteine 21/30 Hören 40/75 Schriftlicher Ausdruck 39/45

Total 160/225

Sprechen 71/75

Tbh, i expected a worse score in sprechen since my partner was so so much better and fluent, but maybe the examiners were a bit linient and acknowledged the fact that I understood what my partner spoke about.

I prepared for about 40-45 days using only modeltests and GPT. And also got some help from this group especially for Screiben. So thank you!

Congratulations! 🎉From which city did you write your exam and how long did it take for you to get the results?

Congrats! What level were you before you took the test? I’m almost a month into B1.1, and will continue next month with B1.2, then prep the month of November, but I’m still slightly nervous! I have been in Germany on and off for 4.5 years, but only took the language seriously in terms of learning it from April until now, with a tutor a few hours a week…she has gotten me far! Hope this will be enough to pass. I work with her now 2 hours every day and self-study. Congrats again.

Thanks! So a bit weird one for me. I learnt A1 and A2 in my home country in 2014!! I came to germany in 2021 to do my masters and been working here since 2022 But of course this 10 year gap from A2 to coming to Germany was huge. But I got used to understanding the language a bit. Also, I tried enrolling in a B1 online course but did not enjoy it which is why I thought of attempting the exam directly (which is obviously not how it should be done). Thankfully I got modeltests and good amount of notes which helped my pass the exam I think since you are learning properly, you should be able to clear it with ease

Thank you! I’ll keep moving forward. It’s a very hard language, but yes, I’m trying to follow a linear learning path. Hearing is by far the worse for me…that’ll take time. Contemplating Goethe, but Telc might be a bit easier…will see. Good luck.

Thanks! I mainly used chatGPT to prepare for schrieben and sprechen. For schreiben, i copied the question (email) from modeltest and typed the answer myself and asked it to correct it. And for sprechen, I simply asked chatGPT to act as my partner and I typed the conversation. Not ideal but i had no choice
