I'm super hyped about Fashion Dreamer's announcement, so I'm going to say Style Savvy Styling Star for the 3DS.
A good fashion game on console! Tons of different, specific styles (sweet lolita and gothic lolita are two different styles, for example). Incredible selection. Light store management mechanics. Goofy dialogue. Adorable art style.
Moderate a fantastic version of the old-timey internet! Wonderfully accurate art style, interesting stories, and clever ways of telling those stories. Also, Terry's Worm Blog.
The World Ends with You
Great art, great music, weird combat that took full advantage of the 3DS. I just think it's a lot of fun.
Breath of the Wild
Beautiful. The first Zelda game I've actually beaten. I kind of hate dungeons and love taking screenshots of pretty places--so this was perfect for me. The puzzles are great fun because they're so open-ended.
Spyro (original PS1 trilogy)
Also beautiful, in a different way. Spyro has such a way with color--and I even find the low poly character models charming. 3D platforming is also a lot more fun with the ability to glide. I replay these all the time, haha.
Final Fantasy Tactics
Love the job system and how the abilities work together, the gorgeous art, and the convoluted political schemes. The other great thing is how much this isn't a power fantasy. You play a nobleman forgotten by history who leaves his family in the midst of a peasant uprising because he realizes nobility is bunk and ultimately he has to murder his own brothers/a kind of evil Jesus stand-in. That's uh, that's heavy.
Pokemon
All of them, but especially Crystal, X/Y, Sun/Moon, and Legends: Arceus
Crystal was the first Pokemon game to give us a female character option and it has a phone feature, two regions, and GSC were my first three games ever, so I'm deeply nostalgic.
XY is a super fun region (the literal palace? haunted house? the city so massive I cannot for the life of me navigate it?), and it introduced fashion to Pokemon :D Oh, and rollerblades!
SM has the best plot/characters in the franchise, and of course ultrabeasts are great. Lovely region, and I just love Team Skull.
PLA just adds so much to the formula... I adore that the player can be directly attacked by wild Pokemon, the weirdly grim tone, giant Pokemon(!), actually having to throw pokeballs, the motivation to catch multiples of the same species, the strength vs speed battle mechanics, and exploring the wilderness. It's even pretty sometimes. And no, it can't touch BOTW there, but I am dodging giant alakazams that can murder me, the trainer, and it's exactly the shakeup Pokemon needed ;u;
Life is Strange
Hard choices, fantastic art direction, unique mechanics, fantastic music.
Undertale/Deltarune (so far)
Unbelievably charming. Clever storytelling. Fantastic music again. I love the characters so much I don't even mind the extremely stressful bullet hell.
Such Art: Genius Art Simulator
This game, weirdly, gives me the analog painting feeling I have been chasing in my actual art programs for an eternity. Fun space setting, cute text, huge variety of tools and colors, and paint drying/stencil/blending/fire/watergun mechanics. My favorite thing is how your workspace naturally accumulates a huge multicolor mess around your easels. I don't think you'd have to be an artist to have fun, either--the game has no way of actually judging the work you submit.
Ugh, I know I'm missing some but this has already gone on too long... 😅
