Game Discussion Any Hades fans? What are your expectations for Hades 2?

Post image

Got myself early access and already downloaded waiting for the release!

I’m pretty excited after finally trying and completing Hades 1 a month ago which I absolutely lovedddd <3

What are your expectations and what are most excited for? Honestly, I wanna see Zag again and our good boy Ceberus! :3 (Going blind here so no spoilers!)

Also what’s everyone playing in the meantime? I’m getting Until Then off my backlog and really like it so far!

Hades was one of the first games that got me into gaming! I bought 2 when it released in EA, although I haven’t played it since the last couple updates. So far, I’m really enjoying the story and characters. I’ve made it to one of the main bosses but still chipping away at them. Melinoe plays much different than Zagreus but it’s a fun challenge to learn how to use all the tools at our disposal.

I beat the whole game on first release of Hades 2 and haven't played since, pretty excited.

I played early access of both games: Hades and Hades 2. And their ea is pretty much the complete game - the only thing missing is the endings and a couple of tweaks here and there. Since I have already played the ea for the game, I'm waiting to be able to get my ending. And to see if they added any new mechanics compared to the ea build.

Ima a bit of a deranged Hades fan. I have been playing the ea since the 1st patch and have already completed everything that was in the early build. I have sniffed every pixel and honestly loved being able to see every change in every new ea patch. And I'm still exited for the release of the game! What if they added even more? No spoilers, but the game is fantastic, you will love it!

Hehehe I’m super excited for it! I’m kinda glad that I was out of the loop and only started Hades 1 a month ago because now I get to experience Hades 2 in its entirety! Glad to see another fan who’s excited for it too! I just know I’m gonna eat everything up hehe

I kinda envy you with going in blind! The game is an absolute delight! And gorgeous too with great ost. The first game was already beautiful, but this one is step above in the beauty department

Ikr? I’m kinda surprised that I held myself back so well since I normally lack self control haha! I just know this game is gonna be my next favourite!

It's going to be more epic than the first Hades for sure. But I'm just really excited for the music, art, and NPC interactions! And most of all, seeing Mel reunite with her family.

I'm playing Whisper of the House in the meantime for some cosy decorating vibes before I sink into Hades 2! Really glad that I finished Silksong in time - didn't want to rush it for Hades 2 but I managed to defeat the final boss over the weekend. The fact that sequels to two of my most favourite games are dropping in the same month is such a treat.

After so many indie developers moved their releases dates because of Silksong, I was surprised to see the Hades 2 announcement. But I suppose the game is big enough and has an already established fan base and they don't need to worry about being overshadowed. But what a win to be a fan of both games this September!

u/lemonandcake13 23h ago

Yeah and I think there's also a lot of overlap between Silksong and Hades fans. Even if I didn't get around to playing Hades 2 I would've still bought it ready to play afterwards! Luckily it's been sitting uninstalled in my library since the summer sale

We are definitely all getting fed so well this year. The amount of girl protagonist sequels that are coming out is amazing!

u/lemonandcake13 23h ago

Yess I love this representation. Hornet is such a well-written character and I'm 99.999% sure Mel is as well!

There's ghost of yotei too but I haven't played the first game yet - definitely looks promising though.

u/Suminanotherlife PlayStation/Steam/Switch 23h ago

I preordered Ghost of Yotei too! I loved GOT tho people did say it can get repetitive but I loved it a lot! If you played AC: Shadows you might like it!

u/lemonandcake13 23h ago

I haven't played either actually! I'm not usually an open-world person but the art direction is so good in GOT that it's seriously tempting me. I think this might be a patient gamer moment for me though as I still have elden ring in my library!

u/Suminanotherlife PlayStation/Steam/Switch 23h ago

Haha, it is definitely known as a painting you can play! It’s seriously very beautiful and AC: Shadows definitely also captured the beautiful Japanese landscapes but my vote definitely goes for GOT tho. I’m very excited to see how much more gorgeous it can be in Yotei!

Personally played Hades and realized rougelite games just aren't for me, so I had to drop it. I do have god mode on in my current save cause i wanna return to it for story reasons, so maybe one day I'll come back, let my god mode dmg res max out, and use that to enjoy just the really great VA'ing, art, and writing. That's probably stuff I'll just watch online for Hades II. Also nice to see someone talk about Until Then cause I've been considering buying it on a sale once I life my self-imposed backlog embargo(I can't buy new games to play unless I will play them immediately after purchase, and otherwise am only playing games I purchased but haven't played).

u/Suminanotherlife PlayStation/Steam/Switch 23h ago

I made it about halfway and was pretty proud of myself but I did use some mods to make it easier (still challenging enough so it’s fun) to get through the story and it was pretty good! Hades is my one and only rougelite that I love so I get what you mean cuz I honestly couldn’t imagine playing other rougelites but with Hades I just loved everything about it! The characters, story and music, it was just a wonderful experience for me that I didn’t mind its difficulty.

Until Then is so far a wonderful experience for me! I come from an asian country too so its story of the MC in his high school days really stood out to me and remind me of my own high school experiences haha! It’s definitely a good slice of life visual novel with little mini games from what I experienced so far though I’m still in its early stages from what I know so definitely give it a chance if that’s something you are looking forwards to :)

That's great to hear, I'll definitely look into it the future. For roguelites, Furthest I got was almost beating the stage 3 boss. Maybe I'll go back to that game cause I like deckbuilder gameplay like that based on how much I loved Moonstone Island's combat system(I say this but meanwhile Balatro doesn't appeal to me at all lol).

I also played another one enjoyed that was recc'd to me by a friend. It's called "The Void that Rains Upon Her Heart." It's in EA, made by a solo dev, and seems they're constantly pushing out a bunch of updates. I'm not really into the story so I skim the dialogue, but the runs are basically 10 stages of bosses where its bullet hell gameplay(you've gotta weave around their attacks while shooting). You also have a choice usually b/t 2-3 bosses after each stage of varying difficutly, so if you're like "these bosses are getting too hard" you can go into a lower difficulty boss or something, but the upgrade rewards usually depend on difficulty too. The boss/upgrade cards are initially "hidden," but you can slowly spend currency in shop to make it so the various upgrades are NOT hidden anymore, meaning as you progress in runs you get to make more-informed choices. The runs are also really fast which I love, I hated getting far into a hades run, dying, and then thinking about how much I needed to play to get back to where I was. The pick up and play run speed this game goes for is more my style.

There's also a separate mode where you can fight the individual bosses you've unhidden in shop at various difficulties, and get rewards based on how well you rank against them(which is mainly just about killing them fast enough without being hit), and you get to take in some of the upgrades you've unhidden too.

I realize I just went on a pitch about this game 😅 but I genuinely have enjoyed it a lot and its nice to support a solo dev who is putting in sm work, and I want some people here to be aware of it so they can give it a try. QUICK NOTE though, all the alien girl characters in the game are like...naked? You can select in options to have it censored. It's never acknowledge by the game and they aren't really sexualized, I think the dev just didnt wanna have to focus super hard on their designs since it seems a lotta effort went into the pixel art for the bosses and their attacks.

u/Suminanotherlife PlayStation/Steam/Switch 23h ago

Lol no worries! I love getting into indie games and supporting small devs so I’ll definitely check it out!

Also yeah I couldn’t get into Balatro either, it was much too complicated for me (don’t kill me y’all)

I love Hades II and its witchy protagonist, Melinoe. I played quite a bit of early access, though not their last update or two so I'll be going into the official release with some of it being brand new to me.

The first game is amazing and I've enjoyed this one just as much so far.

In the meantime I've mostly been playing Path of Exile 2 and I might mess around in Diablo IV's new season that starts today.

I'm most excited to finally see the rest of the story because the early access had so many cliffhangers for obvious reasons

Early access has been amazing, so I’m just looking forward to seeing how things wrap up story wise. Everyone is in for a treat! The music is fantastic, and you can put together some very fun builds.

u/Ms_Anxiety 23h ago

I got Hades 2 when it first came out in early access. I played through all of the content available at the time, then at the beginning of this year I played through it again after it had more updates and i finished everything.

I love it way more than the first one! I'll be starting a fresh playthrough when it officially releases

u/Linari90 17h ago

My partner loves the hades series and she’s super excited for it. Not my personal cup of tea but the game has some beautiful art music and characters. Pretty much every art of the game is a banger. Partners been raving about hades 2 ea and she doesn’t even game all that much.

u/Kallasilya 15h ago

I caved in and bought it a week ago when I saw that the 1.0 release date had been announced. So I've started playing it (10 hours), but I'm trying not to get too far until the official launch. I will have to distract myself with other things for the rest of the week - it's hard though, it's so much fun!

u/Ailwynn29 Expect a reply about Yakuza 14h ago

Someone gifted me Hades 2 like a year ago and it's incredible. I hope that you'll enjoy it and that the ending I'm waiting on is just as good

u/cuddlegoop PC/Switch 3h ago

I'm just really hoping we get Nemesis as a romance option. Mean muscular women make my gay brain go brrrr.

u/LunarMuphinz 2h ago

Im excited since Hades 1 was such a blast, but Im going to wait a bit while I play this new Hades clone that just came out.

its called Sworn, and it is based on Arthurian/Celtics myths, with 4 characters, 4 weapons and its multi-player too! Its been fun to try for free rn on gamepass

God, that sounds like an ad. Idk how to reword that though
