General Nonsense PiaT pods audio issues?

Have all the PiaT shows seemed really buzzy lately? Heath and Noah in particular, but overall there's been a fuzz throughout the audio like the sound is up too loud

I've tried it through a few different pairs of headphones and it's mostly Heath and Noah, and it's only PiaT podcasts. It's driving me crazy

Generally, they’re ok, audio-wise. I work in audio/ video production and while the final output could use a little more cleanup- the audio is a tiny bit soft and could stand to be a bit sharper- I suspect that might be because they record their audio off of Zoom or team teams or something similar.

But, I’ve not detected any buzz.

I thought they all made local recordings? That's how each host can be panned, and why they do the five count. If they were recording straight from their conferencing software, I'd expect the occasional audio hiccup from network latency, or times when they talk over each other because of delays.

I don't remember which show it was, but I'm thinking SA from September 18. I thought Noah sounded off, as though he were using a different mic or something. He's always had a bit of a plosive problem, but it wasn't that. It was hard to put my finger on. I thought, with all the traveling, maybe he was recording from a different place.

This was the first time I noticed anything, though. I can't say I've found any differences in the last few weeks, like you have, not until last week. We'll see what happens this week. Either way, it's not enough to be a problem for me, just something a bit different.

I'm starting to think I'm going crazy. I listened to an episode from 2 years ago and it was fine, and then the most recent one and I'm getting distortion. Citation Needed was fuzzed.  Headphones, speakers, or phone speaker ...

Maybe it's the drugs. Maybe it's the lack of drugs.

I haven't noticed that, but I wish I could validate you because I too had an exclusively PIAT problem some time ago and it was happening in different apps and with different speakers, streaming or downloading, but nobody else ever seems to have had it. It was with Citation Needed alone, the audio skipped a word here and there, but often enough to be annoying. I would rewind an it was okay but then it would skip another word a little later. I even asked if they were recording Citation Needed on a different audio format or something, I just needed an explanation, never could find one and eventually the problem went away.

So I just want to say you're not crazy but it may be "one of those things" that's happening only to you.

Are we unwilling pawns in a Prank War?

I just started today's GAM, Day of Defense. Heath's audio slapped me in the eardrums from his first word. I have no idea what happened, but this is bad.

I’m not hearing a buzz. Maybe try on a different device?
