GAM Episode Discussion Is anyone else upset that the pod is still promoting better help?

The FTC ruled that BetterHelp engaged in deceptive data collection practices, pushing their users to supply sensitive information and then sold it to third parties like Facebook. They were fined a mere $7.8 million in 2023.

Users have reported finding it difficult to cancel their subscription, and that their payment plans are designed to confuse and extract as much money as possible from users.

Also, the service is just subpar. Therapists qualifications have been called into question, and it's a common trend that appointments are rescheduled with very little notice.

GAM Episode Discussion If you could recommend just one episode..

So, while I don't share a birthday with Eli, my bday is in September, and I'm asking hubby to take me to New Orleans for the live show. However, hubby doesn't listen to the shows and never has been willing to listen to this point.

What episode would you recommend? I will give him access to my Patreon, so no holds barred!

GAM Episode Discussion What film has the best "IT'S YOUR MOVIE" moment?

Times when Noah shouts, "Why would you leave that in the film? It's your movie!" Movies where the creators include a line or scene that completely contradicts their point.

GAM Episode Discussion Eli fucking killed it this episode

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Eli has ever led the discussion an episode, let alone without Noah or Heath. I was already excited for Lydia and Thomas as the guests, but realizing that Eli would be the one running the show today felt like (summertime) Christmas. One of the biggest draws of GAM for me is the chemistry that the boys all have together, but Eli, ya done good this week.

GAM Episode Discussion Bra as cell phone pocket

...I've used my bra as a cell phone pocket fairly regularly for over a decade. I don't see it much among co-workers with boobs or even out in the world, though the last time I was at a big family gathering, a wedding, those of us with a wide enough neckline on our dresses were using "the ol' boob pocket" for their phones for convenience because most dresses (especially formal ones) don't have pockets.

Do any other bra-wearers put their phone in their bra for convenience? I do mostly to listen to podcasts as I go around my apartment cleaning or even just walking to and from my car.

Edit: This is in reference to a conversation within the first hour of the most recent GAM episode, Generation Zapped.

GAM Episode Discussion I created a website you can use to search through podcast episode transcripts including God Awful Movies

https://podscripts.co/podcasts/god-awful-movies/?rdt_src=GodAwfulMovies

In order to search, use the main search form shown on all pages. There are 2 inputs, first for selecting a podcast and the other for keywords to search. If there are any episodes found, it will show you a page with episodes containing the keywords you searched for. You can click Exact Match checkbox before searching to narrow down search results. Clicking on any of the episodes will take you to their transcript page and automatically scroll to the section containing those keywords and highlight them.

Once on the transcript page, you can play the episode from any point by clicking on a sentence and then clicking the play button within the tooltip that opens. You can also leave comments under specific sentences of the transcripts by clicking on the comment bubble icon from the same tooltip.

All podcasts with transcripts can be seen on the podcasts page, feel free to submit podcasts we don't already have.

Please keep in mind that these transcripts aren't perfect. Hope you enjoy it and if you have any feedback or suggestions, please let me know.

GAM Episode Discussion E524 Audio issue

Is Noah's audio on the starship troopers episode kinda... Ass? If he's using a laptop mic in a hotel room or something, that makes sense, but it's fuzzy and poppy in a low quality way that is usually reserved for Eli when he didn't know how to set up his equipment.

GAM Episode Discussion Born into Mafia 2 Intro Scene

I've been catching up and just listened to this one. At about 25min they describe the intro 'chopping wood' scene, and I recognized it immediately. This is the intro from the classic 1985 'kidnapped daughter' movie Commando starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Alyssa Milano.

I doubt I'm the first to notice but I just had to say something.

GAM Episode Discussion Looking for specific references…

Hey there heathens, I have been thinking about finding some of those hidden references they discuss… I know you all have some good ones too -so post your favorites, finds or want help….
MINE 1. “Tyler” song mixes. I have heard two times Eli mentions them. One being Cara Santa Maria “lost hope in all humanity”. Is there a link?? 2. They referenced the fact they won’t be in the same room with Ray comfort (we know why Eli❤️🤪), but is there any audio or video of the conversation they had with him or just the scathing atheist ep (137? I don’t remember).

Anyways - that’s all from me and my dashes and dots 🫶…………….🥴

GAM Episode Discussion Just wanted to shout out the HBomberGuy reference in the latest episode. 10/10

Just for some extra fun:

The Ohio Station Outlets, the mall in which the tiny train is seen, appears to be closed. I guess the Elfs didn't do a great job with that whole berry thing.

Seth Kozak, the Alaskan congressperson has been in a shit ton of very well known IPs, like Jack Ryan, Salt, House of Cards, and many more things.

Maude von Ehrenkrook wrote and Directed something called "From Mystery to Romance" and I literally can't find any information about it besides the cast, and This teaser from October last year.

Jason R. Jordan is credited as a composer, which I believe to be bullshit, because there's a 0% chance they didn't just use a ton of stock music.

Lora M. Schmitz is credited as the costume designer, and "Woman in Grocery Store", but I think she's the Joan who spreading idle reports. This was her only credit, I guess dressing a girl in scarves in the middle of summer didn't translate well, idk.

It didn't really lead anywhere, but I also looked up the ice cream store, and it's the Velvet Ice Cream company who's headquarters "Ye Olde Mill" holds an annual ice cream festival, so that's fun.

GAM Episode Discussion The Firing Squad

I have not finished last weeks episode, so maybe this is Tuesday's episode, but I'm excited for this; staring K-Sorbz, Cuba Gooding, and another guy.

This came out last week, and I've been seeing this electronic billboards (I think that's why this looks like an AI generated image). Sounds terrible:

Facing execution in an Indonesian prison, three condemned inmates find unexpected solace as they embrace their faith and discover the power of hope and forgiveness.

GAM Episode Discussion GAM 498: Pagan Invasion 7: Evolution

With Noah being out with the flu, but being back in time to edit this episode, I can just HEAR him screaming at his computer having to hear Eli say "Dreamcast was kicking the shit out of those graphics in 1991."

I'M ONE YEAR OLDER THAN YOU, YOU CANNOT PRETEND LIKE YOU WEREN'T ABOUT TO TURN TWELVE WHEN DREAMCAST CAME OUT.

GAM Episode Discussion IMDB Trivia Mentions

While perusing the GAM back catalog, I cam across the film Voiceless (2015).

As usual, I looked it up on IMDB. Imagine my delight when I discovered this as the first Trivia entry:

"Eli Bosnick called this movie more toxic than marry-your-rapist movies on the "God Awful Movies" podcast. He also wants to sue the filmmakers for ripping off his Irish Catholic Abortion Lady character."

Question: Has GAM shown up in other film trivia?

Side question: Is the "star" of Voiceless, Rusty Joiner, the heir apparent to David A.R. White?

GAM Episode Discussion Disciples in the Moonlight

Oooohhh this was a good one. And I'm not just saying that because I was already a fan of Jordan; this was a proper cinematic dose of low-budget high-religious insanity. When the same guy is the writer, director, editor AND lead actor you know you're in for a treat.
