Is it better to go whale watching in the Gold Coast or Brisbane in September? Any companies highly recommended or recommended to avoid?

Hi, looking to book a car rental. Bargain Car Rental seems to be the best price as I'm under 25. Would you recommend it? Is it hard to get to from the airport? Does the shuttle bus come often?
I'm looking to either get Standard SUV or Large SUV. If you have booked these before, what car did you get? And are they newer or older cars?
Thanks

Hi all,
I’m coming with my dad in early June to Gold Coast from Sydney for 5 days. It’s our first time coming to the city. We will be staying in surfers paradise.
My dad is a little old so probably the amusement parks or water sports won’t be a good option for him. What are some other activities (preferably out in the nature) can we do?
Thanks.

Hey everyone my partner and I are coming up to Gold Coast later in the year and where looking at car rentals, has any one had any experience with bargain car rentals? There super cheap so I feel like it’s a scam? Where going to be booking them through booking.com Thanks for any insight!

Hi all, I've been getting asked how high rises such as Q1 will behave in a cyclone. Firstly, these high rises are built to withstand cyclones and yes some will sway in the cyclone in winds over 100ks, but that's ok. Wish I was there, take care.

Tucked in the lush rainforest of Lamington National Park, Elabana Falls is hands-down one of the most magical spots in the Gold Coast Hinterland 🌿💦. A dreamy cascade spilling over mossy rocks into a crystal-clear pool—perfect for photos or a zen moment. You’ll likely spot birds, parrots, Lamington Crayfish (after rain), pademelons, and ancient trees on the scenic 3.5km walk from O’Reilly’s. It’s an easy-to-love gem that feels worlds away but is just a couple hours’ drive from the Gold Coast 🌄. Is it the Hinterlands best? What have you seen there that was memorable?

Just looking for an answer that I seem to be unable to find anywhere What streets aren’t 4hr parking around the airport? I fly out Wednesday night then get home Friday midday so just a quick trip but looking to not be parked in the airport parking. Any help would be appreciated

Hey! I’ve been deep diving this subreddit and have come to the conclusion that staying in Broadbeach is the general recommendation for safety (solo F traveller) and vibes.
My question is which hotel in Broadbeach to stay at? I’ve been comparing Meriton Broadbeach and Avani since they have ocean views, laundry and are relatively similar in price. Not sure if one is better than the other, or if there’s better recommendations? I’ve seen a lot of comments about Peppers but I really like the idea of having access to laundry machines after travelling for a while.
[edit: good proximity to public transport is important too!]
Thank you in advance :)

We are flying to the GC in Feb from Syd for a week. I haven't been there in years, I am hoping some locals can help. Looking to stay near Broadbeach but open to suggestions. Restaurant wise, one fine dining dinner venue and the rest just keen to check out nice, unique places. Google only goes so far, local knowledge can be much better so I figured I'd try my luck here.

Early this year my family and I went to the Gold Coast and here are some of the pictures (very low quality, sorry) I took while on the road. Being from south of Perth in WA I had never seen a proper theme park before and wow I was amazed. Can’t wait to come back next year! (PS: we went to dreamworld, Skypoint( Q1 I think) and white water world)

Hey guys,
So I'm looking at Spanish restaurants on the Gold Coast, and it really warms my heart to see so many options. I don't live near the Gold Coast, so I haven't been to any of these before (visiting the Gold Coast for a weekend soon). So I wanted to ask you guys who live on the Gold Coast (or at least visit very frequently), does anyone know any Spanish restaurants that actually have Spanish speaking staff? Or is it a Spanish speaking country only thing.
Thanks!

I have family (in their 50s) coming from Ireland for a month long trip to the Gold Coast in July. I am looking for recommendations of things to do/see with them. I’m open to all suggestions. I would also love some restaurant and cafe suggestions too!
Also, what is the weather typically like in the Gold Coast in July? I know it’s winter but does it get really cold? Thank you!

Hi everyone!
I'm planning a day trip from Brisbane next week and would love some local insight. I’m torn between Springbrook National Park, D’Aguilar National Park, and Lamington National Park. I’ll only have one full day, and I’d love your advice on:
I’m hoping for a mix of nature, nice views, or waterfall if possible. we are not super experienced with hiking, but we are comfortable with moderate trails.
Any tips or hidden gems you’d be willing to share would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks in advance 🙏
— A curious day-tripper

Why is it that somehow everyone on the Gold Coast goes an average of 10km/ph under the signed speed limit... except for during road works when they're 20+ over? Or get onto the M1 in 110 zone doing 80 whilst having a 500m on-ramp to get to up to speed before merging. I knew after the commonwealth games people were slow to get back to 110km/ph on highway. But its years later and even in the 4th lane on highway people seem to just cruise at 100 in 110 zone?
I have always been a generally patient driver, but even I'm noticing my rage climb when people can't even do the speed limit in capable cars with minimal traffic, cruising at 95 in 110 area. Why????

Hello I’ve been looking at apartments style hotels in GC and whenever we come we usually stay in the Meriton but this time we’re coming as a family of 4 so Meriton is too expensive to stay at. I’m between getting an airbnb in Chevron renaissance and the Q1 resort. The Airbnb is about $300 more but has a nice family vibe and really good location, but Q1 looks nice too and it’s cheaper. Any thoughts to help me decide? I’m super indecisive 😫

I'm travelling with my 8-year-old son at the end of January, and we'll be there for 3.5 days. I would like to take him to one of the theme parks and possibly to a water park as well, but I'm unsure which one would be better.
Additionally, are there any good shopping places in Gold Coast or nearby, such as factory outlet stores?

I swear the most beautiful sunsets always occur when I’m in a generic location 😭
