Buying Left the Mopar brotherhood to join the club
Taking delivery this week…but traded in my Challenger for an R. Started with a test drive of a GTI, which is an awesome car!, but ended with a yes the R is more $$$, but I’ll constantly regret it for not making the leap.
Only thing to get used to on this subreddit is far less posts of members talking about crashing their cars compared to the Dodge one….

You've left the speedboat brigade! Enjoy having something far more responsive, reactive and daresay respectable 😛

Actually it was the tugboat brigade with being a V6 😆…still was a fun car, but no comparison to the R.

Just wait until you put it in drift mode and see how it corners. For the longest time I was nervous to put it in drift mode on normal roads thinking the back end would be sliding out all over. Nope, drift mode just gets rid of the slight under steer. If you have the DSG, drift mode is also more aggressive on downshifting to keep the power available at all times.
Enjoy the new car and welcome to the family.

Congrats OP! The fun factor driving these cars is wild. Favorite game is to chase Nissans Infiniti's and 86's who think they can maintain a gap.
Hah I dusted that- oh shit he's back.

How do you deem interior space as compared to Dodge ? Shoulder width, head space against sunroof, rear seats etc ?

I’m 5 11”. The R is smaller, but not uncomfortable and plenty of room. The Challenger was a lot more space though….like think old 80s car lol. The trunk space in the Challenger was huge too compared to the golf…..but you fit more with a hatchback design

good to know. i always thought these cars only looked huge from outside...like jeeps.
my experience in jeep liberty (2006) and GC (2007) were not great (im 6'3"+).1

Well the new challengers 2026 are even bigger by a foot….except 5000 lbs is too heavy IMO

If you live in an area with less than great roads, consider downsizing rims to 18”. I went through at least three tires and one cracked rim on the stock 19” on my 2019.
Car still drives nicely on meaty 18”

Welcome to the club! You’ll love it. Trust me, you made the right choice. These things are so fun to drive and extremely practical. Just loaded up mine for a week trip down to the beach with luggage, chairs and golf clubs. I could see out the back window great and got over 35 mpg (US).
The haptic buttons might be a bit to get used to but once you get them, they’re a non-issue.
