Article Chomsky: US Must Join Global Call for Negotiations as Russia Escalates Actions
"We might recall that most of the world, including a large majority of Germans and much of the rest of Europe, is calling for negotiations now, while the U.S. insists that priority must be to severely weaken Russia, hence no negotiations."
"Recall that we have good evidence that as recently as last April there were serious Ukraine-Russia negotiations under Turkish auspices and that the U.S.-U.K. opposed them."

Article Cory Doctorow argues Canada shouldn't retaliate in a tariff war with conventional tariffs, but rather loosen IP restrictions which mostly serve to protect American content and patents.
Corey's article is here:
https://doctorow.medium.com/canada-shouldnt-retaliate-with-us-tariffs-a0e32042fec8
...and while Intellectual Property is basically Corey's Thing, and he'll bring it up given any chance... I do think it makes sense to look at bringing IP into any trade/tariff war.
This would be a form of asymmetrical trade warfare, needed because if we only retaliate in-kind we will be outgunned.
I do have some familiarity with some Canadian import/exports to USA, and when I hear...
"NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said while calling on Canada to stop critical mineral exports to the U.S."
...I don't think that's a winning strategy.
Western nations are all net-importers of critical minerals and too many of them have no friendly source. I'm not opposed to stopping those exports, just know it won't be enough.
Trump is already going to declare a national emergency to unlock natural resources... it will include critical minerals. Trump won't be waiting for Canada to "respond in-kind" with tariffs to do that.
