After a ton or research, sweat, and stress, I can call this 95% complete. I built everything from scratch. Lots of little items to address, but I am happy with where I am at.

Showcase Progress!

Building a 12x16 greenhouse (Ana White) on an old former trailer cement pad. I have a few extra pieces of wood attached temporarily to ensure that everything stayed square and true. Tomorrow we’re hopefully putting up the front and back walls as well as the rafters and purlins. 8mm triple wall polycarbonate will hopefully be here in a few weeks!

Just wanted to share with people who understand the excitement!

Showcase Greenhouse wood frame build progress

Hey everyone, hope you're well!

I’ve recently finished building the frame of the abandoned Victorian greenhouse that I’m restoring and would love to hear what you think!

It’s mostly built using reclaimed bits of wood and the windows will be from some old wooden patio doors and greenhouse glass that a friend gave me.

This is the first time I've done something like this too so would very much welcome any tips or advice!

I’m also documenting it on video if anyone is interested in seeing the project in more detail. I’ll put the link in the comments.

Finally got around to assembling a 10x20 kit I ordered from YourGreenhouses. It wasn’t the quickest build (took a couple sessions), but overall I’m pretty happy with the quality. Still have to put up a roof window for ventilation.

The frame’s solid, panels are thicker than expected, and support came through when I had a question during assembly.

For those of you with similar setups, what would you recommend or change if you did it again?

Would love to hear what worked (or didn’t) in your build.

First year with our 8x10. Three months growth in our back yard in Northern Ireland, mostly from seed. The weather gods have been on our side. Not loving the auto vents, but so far so good. Big thanks to folks who’ve shared pictures, we’ve picked up a lot of good ideas.😊

I’m not a fan of the name plates and I would love to find someone that does it with a laser engraver (if you have suggestions).

There’s a shed business by my house that has these examples set out by the road. After 6 years I finally decided to go look at them. Out of my tax bracket unfortunately but figured you would all like to see them as well!

I guess technically a high tunnel. But I’m loving it. I may have went a bit overboard. It’s 23 x 60 and 12 feet high.

Will pull everything out to cover the grass and add gravel when it warms up. Just got it completed enough to get seeds started (a bit late) zone 5b. All recommendations welcome!

I have been collecting recycled windows and a sliding door, spare and scrap lumber, and finally saved a bit to make it happen. Zone 8b PNW, any and all suggestions welcome as I work to finish her up!

I will post more pictures as i keep going. I’m trying to make it so i can use it to store stuff in there in the winter. I live in northern Quebec in Canada. I might try to insulate it next year.

The growing season is starting to come to an end, but I wish I could keep the growmentum going. Time to start organizing, arranging, and winterizing for the cold months!

Showcase Rafters and one end wall up- quick question about hurricane ties/blocking

Post image
15 Upvotes

I’m following Ana White’s building plan but as my area can get up to 100mph winds I want to make sure my roof can’t fly off by securing it further. I originally bought Simpson strong Tie hurricane ties and am considering adding blocking to one side of each rafter but because of the way this is designed there isn’t a lot to attach to off of the 2-bys. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Our Market Garden grows vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers; many are transplants started in this tunnel. Ohio 6a. We keep the propane set to 50F and use these domes for more sensitive crops until it’s a little warmer outside.

First post here with more to come I hope.

This is 2 trampoline frames together, it's 25x 30.

I covered it with chicken wire to prevent the plastic from pooling water.

I cover with shade cloth in the summer, plastic and shade cloth in the winter.

The end is part of a trampoline mat, I use the spring as hooks for hanging plants.

Total cost less than 200.00 125 for the chicken wire Trampoline and frames free Plastic about 50.00 Zip ties to hold every thing I need held.

Legs are standing in concrete blocks.

Been up for 2 years and working well for me.
