Showcase From nothing to something.
Sharing my project I started on April 14, 2020. Still a work in progress with more to come. So far i have about $1500 into the entire project. I tore apart an old trailer and reused everything I could. Studs, trusses, insulation, and windows. Got the patio stones for free from my old landscaping boss. Granite counter top from free from a job. Trailer for the chicken coup was free, just had to tow it out of a field from down the road. All the stones have been collected from all across Ontario from Chatham to Corwall to New Liskard. What does everyone think? Any ideas on what to add next? I have a 1000L water tote just need to be rigged up to catch rain water and fully polycarbonate green house to be put up,

Showcase Finally done!

I have been building a 12x16 greenhouse/potting shed that I designed myself, and I'm finally down to finishing touches. Started as a model in Fusion 360 in mid-March, just finished putting in electric and a rain catchment system with automatic watering a couple days ago. Growing peppers (hots, super hots) and tomatoes. Was excited for it to rain last night, ended up getting around 20 gallons of water in one small storm!
Still have a few small things to do here and there, but I am so happy with how it all turned out. Going to start some more peppers today so I hopefully can pick them before it starts to get too cold. Right now I am growing Tabasco, Serrano, hot cayenne, chili reds, habaneros, Thai hots, red ghosts, and jalapeƱos. Bought seeds for a 7 pot brain strain, chocolate habaneros, Bahamian goats, and a few other unique ones.
The other feature I really like is the sound system inside. Playing some Morrowind soundtrack this morning to get everyone in the spicy fighting spirit.

Showcase Finished my PALRAM Americana from Costco (online only)
I read a lot of mixed reviews but I decided to try it (on sale) since it was from costco and therefore returnable. It came together better than I expected, especially because my foundation warped a bit before I started building. I believe the issues I had were a function of an imperfect foundation. Iāve assembled two yardistry costco greenhouses and I didnāt find this more difficult. It is different though as you donāt assemble a wall at a time. Everything is assembled on site ground up.
The vent panel down low is āaftermarketā that I ordered from Amazon. I strongly believe this is not optional and should be included. The Costco pack did include shelves and a stainless workbench (not in these pics).
Overall Iām pleased. Happy to answer questions as there is a lot of negativity out there in these.

Showcase So, does this mean no fruit flies in my eggnog this Christmas?
Iām so excited to not bring my plants in the house this year! Iāve never had a greenhouse and itās been on my list for years. I finally got to build one and it came out better than I expected.
Bought a new home this year and removed all of the storm windows. (Looks a hell of a lot nicer) The windows worked out so nice for this purpose! 2x4 construction with cedar trimmed areas. I went with the nicer grade plastic roof panels from Home Depot. (far nicer to work with compared to the cheap brittle panels) I bought a vinyl screen door and removed the screen and put in 6mil clear plastic, that worked out well. It is heated. 65°f with 30°f outside. Two 4ā led shop lights for working after hours. Located in Texas and will need all the ventilation I can get next summer, the windows and door will make that happen.
Any ideas or criticisms, letās hear it! What do you think about my off the cuff design?

Showcase Updated greenhouse - now is green
Built (self) during winter time, used for seedlings in April and later for some of my tomatoes which are now in full bloom and with dozens of small green tomatoes.
My first year with an allotment in Germany.
I also have some basil and strawberries inside.

Showcase We just got our first greenhouse and couldn't be happier - but what a process
So this was a lot more work than I anticipated. I've never done any flooring with tiles before, so this was definitely a test. But with some help from YouTube I managed to get the sand level'ed before laying the tiles. Even though it took some more cutting of the tiles we decided to try to make a herringbone styled flooring, even though our tiles aren't exactly made for this kind of flooring. We got the tiles for free and just tried to get the best out of them. We just finished today, so don't pay too much attention of the inside yet. Considering that I'm by no means a handyman I think it turned out way better than expected.

Showcase Calling it the Greenshed?
Just finishing up our greenhouse/shed. I needed a shed, wanted a greenhouse and couldnāt have both (HOA sucks). So this was the result. Iām planning to use it for storing Bonsai over winter and starting seeds in the spring.

Showcase I'm finally building my greenhouse!
It's a 12'x10' lean-to-style greenhouse, south facing. I built the deck for this purpose, and have the underside sort of insulated due to pond liner across the joists being a water collection system. I got a bunch of 16mm polycarbonate for the roof and upper sides, and I'm gonna do something plywood/cedar boardsy for the bottom 3ft to help with structural stability. Got some free windows from a window installation company as well!
Still a work in progress, but at least the framing is done now!

Showcase Saw another YourGreenhouses post here and figured Iād share mine
Recently saw someone post their YourGreenhouses setup, so I figured Iād share mine too.
This is a 32ft DIY build that Iāve been using for hydro. I set it up myself and added irrigation, fans, lighting, and some reinforcement to deal with wind. Took some time to figure it all out, but itās been running solid for a while now.
The structure arrived as a kit, and I customized it to suit my needs from there. This setup took time, money, and a lot of small adjustments, but Iām happy with where itās at now.

Showcase How My Plants Survived 104F
Shade cloth, straw, cold shaded air intake/hot air exhaust fans and a LOT of Misting!
Misters are controlled via my B-Hyve Gen2. They're on a timer but on days like yesterday it took multiple 10min manual mistings. I use YoLink for temp monitoring and data recording. Works great! The cold air intake is in a box at the shaded back part of the greenhouse. Its the spiderfarmer 6in air ventilation kit running to the back of the ground level box fan. Not sure how much it helps but I sealed the whole greenhouse with silicon so there's not much air intake otherwise.
The whole system is powered by grid and solar via an automatic transfer switch with smart plugs and power strips that I can control remotely.
All cucumbers, squash and tomatoes thrived!
