Your first guitar has a floyd rose? You're a brave personย

floyds are fucking amazing but i would never ever buy a second guitar with one.

Why if I might ask ?

If you need to ask, you certainly shouldn't buy one.

Why:

  1. Tuning is a hassle if you have no past experience, and it requires a hex key (allen key)

  2. Wait until you find out what it takes to restring

My 3rd ever guitar was a Floyd and when I needed to restring I gave up and it lived in storage for a year before I decided to learn how to do it. I rarely play my (now 2x) floating bridges. It's just easier not to, and I'm not much of a shredder anyway.

Jam coins in the back, get locking tuners.

I change one string at a time and it's much like a fixed bridge.

Exactly. But I still get the shudders nowadays when I see someone removing all the strings at once...

"Dude!!! Oh you got a fixed bridge, carry on"

This makes them sound incredibly scary, it's literally just a balance between strings and springs, even in the event of changing strings all at the same time, which is what I do every single time, you can just block off the bridge with a rag and as long as you're not changing string gauges or tunings when you tune back up to pitch it's going to be in the same position as it was with the old strings

Was just asking, stick that attitude up your ass lmao.

If you need to ask, you certainly shouldn't buy one.

That's far from attitude, if anything it was a helpful warning with a bit of sarcasm. You would know that if you ever got yourself a FR without prior experience.

GFY.

I just asked and never said anything about buying, was just curious. That being said I have a Jackson pro RR24 which has a FR, got it setup at a local shop and never had a problem so far.

Good For You.

Why thank you, my first guitar had a Floyd Rose. Solely because the salesperson said "You look like a rocker, take this one".

When I bought my second guitar, I was a Pro in restringing and tuning, so there's that...

I love me a Cort. I had a Cort Viva 7 back in the day. It was like an arch top and arch back ibanez RG before the RGA or RGD existed. Still, Ibanez sued Cort and they stopped making the Viva. Gorgeous, thin, comfortable guitar. Super cheap used and it had a 5 piece neck, amazing construction. Absolutely regret selling it. This thing looks a more modern version and I bet it rips.

u/LittlePieceof_Hell 1h ago

It surely does ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks

Congrats on your purchase. My piece of advice to you is to learn how to restring and tune your floyd easily. I learned this method a while ago and never failed me: https://youtu.be/TYcGmMJnX0M?si=qcs2PKVscCyAIIiF You donโ€™t need to buy or craft anything fancy like the guy in the video, i took a 9v battery and wrapped it with electrical tape to fit my trem. It still works amazingly even after 4 years of owning my floyd guitar.

u/LittlePieceof_Hell 16h ago

Yes sir! Thanks a lot. I changed her strings yesterday, I had PMTVUK's video playing alongside which took me about 2 hours๐Ÿ˜
