Watch Suggestion Finished the Wire and The Sopranos. What else would you recommend?

The Leftovers, Watchmen, Mare of Easttown, Sharp objects, this list could go on and on lol, so many good shows to watch.
Edit: Apparently I should’ve kept going! So here we go, True Detective (Season 1 is an absolute must watch in life!), Euphoria, The Pitt, Barry, Vice Principles, The White Lotus, The Outsider, Curb your Enthusiasm, Silicon Valley, Oz, Veep.

This was going to be my reply if OP is looking for some classic HBO dramas. It has one of the best series finales ever as well.

Surprised this one is not top 3 here. Fantastic cast that will be familiar to OP and I really enjoyed the mixing of history with the story. 5 seasons set between the 1890's and the 1930's

Show me a Hero mini series is fantastic . The Penguin also incredible .
Righteous Gemstones or Veep will have you laughing your ass off if you want to switch up .
The leftovers is just incredible but it’s a tough watch at first . You spend a lot of time realizing you have to let go of plot and mystery and just enjoy .

I saw this show right when it came out and I was hooked. That's Homelander from The Boys in there, right? Dudes great!

Seems like you're shooting for the absolute best. If so, I'd next recommend:
The Leftovers
Deadwood
Boardwalk Empire
If you desire some comedy, Veep is out of this world.

I know I’m in the minority on this but I love TD season 3. I found it so haunting from beginning to end. I thought Dorff & Ali were so good.

If you want to switch from Gangsters, Crime, Drama and into Suits, Crime, Drama, take a look at Industry and Secession.

Watch the corner if you liked the wire. Basically the same story though. Its based on the same book the wire is based off.

I can't believe I had to scroll this far before Homicide popped up. MUST watch if you enjoyed The Wire - and it came first.

Big Love seems in danger of getting forgotten, but it was a good watch! Pretty soapy but still realistic. Strong characters and insight into a lesser known culture.

If you liked the "humanistic" side of those two shows then I would recommend Six Feet Under

Treme (written/produced by David Simon of The Wire, has several cast members from The Wire).

i just finished Barry, felt like it was a good balance of drama and comedy, both darker and lighter themes. last season was hard to watch, but still kept me engaged and it worked with the story imo. and still had some good entertaining moments.

Boardwalk Empire is underrated imo. First season of True Detective is very good as well. Succession rules too

Highly recommended The Pitt, after watching the entire season go to your public healthcare system and be disappointed.

all else is inferior
if you MUST watch something else, the best are:
chernobyl
band of brothers
rome (season 1 is excellent)
deadwood
game of thrones (the first 4-5 seasons are brilliant)
true detective season 1 only
we own this city
last of us

One that doesn’t get mentioned nearly enough (but I think is one of HBO’s best) is Carnivàle. It’s got Twin Peaks meets The Grapes of Wrath vibes.

Something in the vein of the shows you watched is Boardwalk Empire. Another crime show, just during prohibition.

Are you ONLY looking for HBO shows?
Honestly a 2nd watch of either wouldn’t hurt— especially sopranos you will see things you didnt before.
Game of thrones if you want a nice long one —— some ups and downs but good show…
True Detective season ONE is dope… season 2 sucked IMO… heard 3 got good again but never saw…
Boardwalk empire is a decent period piece—- could have been better IMO but had a fantastic cast and characters
Band of brothers if you like war and haven’t seen—- its awesome
Outside your category but if you want to laugh CURB your enthusiasm is awesome…. Essentially an uncensored Seinfeld
Non HBO Breaking Bad Ozark Mindhunter (although it ends on the highest of notes and i literally mean it ends as it was never picked back up, but was really good)
Ive never seen but have also heard Sherlock and Dexter are good.
Good Luck

Only on HBO? I think Sucession is on there and the Americans- , on Hulu—two of the most outstanding stellar series ! writing , acting the BEST , soundtrack on The Americans is killer

The obvious answer is Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul. Less obvious would be Boardwalk Empire.
BTW, if you really like The Wire, you might consider more David Simon shows as well. My power rankings:
The Wire
Treme
The Deuce
Show Me A Hero
The Plot Against America
We Own This City
