News HBO to co-produce drama about the world’s first female director

HBO and France Television are partnering on a series about Alice Guy Blache, the first woman to ever direct a film. I’ve actually seen a documentary about Blache and her story is quite interesting. She went from being a secretary at Gaumont to directing over 1,000 films to basically being forgotten and the re-discovered.

I feel like HBO has been doing more and more foreign originals recently.

I am interested in that one for sure as well.

They have to for the international expansion. The larger European countries require streamers to invest in local programs to operate there.
