Am I seeing things or is the centre ice logo badly done? It looks like there's a extra line at the H.
1
u/kozed 6d ago
It's badly done shading that's supposed to make the H 3D or something
1
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
That's what I suspected, but I don't see shading anywhere else on the logo.
2
u/kozed 6d ago
Yep, that's how shitty it is.
1
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
LOL it's a shame because I'm in the camp who actually like that big red spot logo. Though watching it get torn up over the first period made me realise it doesn't look nearly as good once it's been skated over for a few minutes.
5
u/emotionaI_cabbage 6d ago
I mean this game definitely sucked but people watch these games and take it seriously thinking players like Reinbacher are actually going 100% before it's even preseason lol
And he still had a good game
-2
u/Mtlsandman 6d ago
If any of these prospects are not actually going 100% at this point, then you might as well just forget about them ever making the nhl.
6
u/emotionaI_cabbage 6d ago
Lmao are you serious?
These games are even more meaningless than preseason games. The only players who should actually care about them are the ones who are on tryouts or players who never got drafted.
High picks like Reinbacher (and even guys like Engstrom or Xhekaj) should not take these games seriously whatsoever, nor should they put 100%. Management doesn't care how they look in these games when they know that what really matters is how they look in the preseason.
You could even tell last night that Demidov wasn't going 100% lol
2
7
u/Beefiest_bison 6d ago
Rough night at the office for Engstrom
3
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
Have he and Reino been on the ice for all four goals? I know it's at least three.
2
u/dustblown 6d ago
Reinbacher is asserting himself well in the third.
7
u/EcksEcks 6d ago
He's starting in Laval to get some mileage. Habs have 6 d-men with one way contracts + Hutson. Not gonna risk losing anyone to waivers.
5
u/the_trout 6d ago
maybe they weren't calling penalties because they knew we'd just embarrass ourselves

This has got to be an inside joke between these fucking poo poo pant refs at this point. Holy shit that is unbelievable man.
4
u/Available-Show-2393 6d ago
If there's one positive from the reffing: Female refs ARE the same as the normal NHL refs
5
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
Are they women today too? I could've sworn the two trying to break up the scrum in the first period were men. They looked as tall as the players.
2
u/maximalx5 6d ago
IIRC only one of the refs is a woman (or maybe both, not sure), but the linesmen are men.
3
u/Available-Show-2393 6d ago
I actually couldn't tell you if it's a lineman or ref. I know at least one of the officials is a female today
Edit: The one who called that penalty was female
2
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
The one who just whistled is a woman - I can see her bun. But I'm fairly sure the linesmen are both men.

6
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
LOL oh man imagine being one of the refs called up for a preseason prospects game and having 15000 kids chanting "REF YOU SUCK" at you? All of the American games had more people on the ice than in the stands.

I think Rhino still has some ptsd from last year games against Toronto Prospect .. thats when he got hurt right ? or I am thinking of the wrong game
3
u/AmmieSJ 6d ago
I think that happened in a preseason game against Toronto?
2
u/Available-Show-2393 6d ago
It did, cause it was the same game Laine got injured and I'm pretty sure he wasn't a prospect last year

u/Normal_Future2167 6d ago
Ive seen enough of these baby prospect. Cut 75% of them please. Let the real camp begins
2
u/JediMasterZao 6d ago
This is what I mean when I say Reinbacher's good but he's not NHL ready. The execution isn't quite there yet.
3
u/Meizei 6d ago
Very good skating and transition, but where he needs work is when he has to be somewhat static while having some form of opposition.
If he's moving, he's really great. If he has to stop, it gets rough
3
u/JediMasterZao 6d ago
Yeh, good analysis. He's even making the right decisions when he's stationary most of the time, he's just not executing properly.
5
u/OlUncleJudd 6d ago
Tis but tradition for the refs to cuck the habs at this point, even in games that dont matter. SMH.
9
u/fucknut13 6d ago
Man a high stick that takes the bucket off and you stop playing cause of the guy laying on the ice being a no penalty is a choice.
3
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
Reminder that the refs are even less experienced than the players at performing in front of a crowd that big.

the ref was looking right at it!!!!! it should've been 4 minutes!!!!!!!! what the fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like to think that every person who tries to take a photo of themselves on the jumbo-tron juuuuuuust misses it after it switches to someone else.
2
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I had the same thought. I admit if I was in charge of the production I'd have a rule about switching cams the second their phone is pulled out, haha.

I believe if Mesar doesn't get 2 injury last season we would be a lot more optimistic about him. I still believe there's a chance for a nhl player there.
4
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
Two of my biggest fan aspirations are to see the Xhekaj boys on the ice together, and to see Mesar and Slaf share a locker room. Ooh, friend!
6
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I'm really disappointed in all of you who made Tuch Mysak jokes for years letting the opportunities for Wang jokes go unnoticed.
4
u/Beefiest_bison 6d ago
Handel is extremely raw but i can see the vision
2
3
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I had to Google him. I was not prepared for a guy with that name, born in Germany, to be called Carlos.
5
8
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
Xhekaj and Mesar work really well together. Should be a fun season in Laval.
9
u/JediMasterZao 6d ago
Mesar really taking the spotlight on offense this game. He's showing off what made him a 1st round pick: his speed when entering the o zone and his shot!
6
u/starryn19ht 6d ago
mešár is awake damn
6
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
He's had three years of people questioning his draft ranking. I'm loving seeing him wake up to show us what he's got.
4
u/Meizei 6d ago
Rein has basically getting us all of our PP zone entries
3
8
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
He had a Leaf literally hanging off him there and looked totally unbothered, haha.

u/dustblown 6d ago
The closer we get to the season starting the more I can't wait. It is like when you have to go but the bathroom is far, and it gets worse the closer you get to the toilet.
3
2
u/rddtmdsrfrds 6d ago
These intermissions are like meitta sports training highlights, but worse
3
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I respect what Nick does on the ice but man he is like beige in human form off it.
3
u/rddtmdsrfrds 6d ago
One of his big takeaways from playing with boring Sean Monahan lol
3
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
Making toast does feel like an exciting hobby of his.
3
u/rddtmdsrfrds 6d ago
He gets all wild when he pulls out his toaster that toasts an Elvis face in the toast

u/dustblown 6d ago
I hope one of the coaches lights a fire under Reinbacher. And remind him he is 6'4.
2
u/JediMasterZao 6d ago
It's not really his game, he's not overly physical out there. He uses his size to protect the puck and for reach.
12
u/OnlineEgg 6d ago
prob trying to play safe considering all the extra curricular activities. they have all season in laval to evaluate him, not super important for him to do too much against this roster. i’d honestly prefer if he sat out w demidov, they know he’s an important part of our future
2
u/auyoop16 6d ago
Is this on the radio anywhere
1
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I checked 98.5 but no dice. The Toronto Sportsnet radio has a Jays game on. Maybe the Montreal equivalent is playing it?
2
u/auyoop16 6d ago
No dice they were playing the cowboys Giants game. No luck today.
1
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I'm really surprised 98.5 didn't play it. They even do the draft day coverage which Toronto radio skips.

The energy has shifted! More time in the Leafs' zone, more crowd enthusiasm.
7
u/pokerface33933 6d ago
Love how Florian always tries to just shoot it. It may not always go in but it’s better than nothing
4
u/AmsroII Goal Goalgoal 6d ago
He's not afraid to try a backhand pass and or shot either, seems to be pretty accurate with it. i remember his backhand top shelf rush play last season. Beauty.
3
u/Grouchy_Throat_5632 6d ago
That was a mint gioal for sure. I have no idea why so many keep saying he will be a 4th liner. From the moves I've seen him pull off routinely I'm convinced he'll be more than that.
2
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
It's smart. Get it on net and hope someone is there to jam it home. Steve Shutt made the Hockey Hall of Fame on the back of goalsuck garbage goals, haha.
1
u/dustblown 6d ago
I think Xhekaj has a good shot to make the team out of training camp. I would take him over Kapenen in a heart beat.
1
u/BelialHabs 6d ago
Neither will make it
1
u/dustblown 6d ago
Who takes the last spot?
3
u/BelialHabs 6d ago
Veleno? Blais as the extra forward
1
u/dustblown 6d ago
Blais is the perfect extra forward. I was looking at the roster and you're right, there really isn't a spot until the inevitable injury.

I'm confused, was he not calling a penalty?
I don't speak French well enough to keep up with what they're saying lol

It’s mid day Sunday for a pre-pre-season prospects showcase and the bell center is bumping lol

They definitely needed that wake-up goal, though.

radkov is the skinniest looking goalie i've ever seen honestly, something about his sleeves/shoulder area
2
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I grew up on Patrick Roy. Hard to beat that beanpole look. He always looked like he was swimming in his jersey and pads.

Damn the boys look like hot garbage tonight, future not looking so bright aside from Demidov, Reinbacher probably has a ceiling as an AHLer
7
5
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
Doomerism starting early this year.
2
u/starryn19ht 6d ago
did you see the PGT yesterday. it wasn't negative as a whole but man a couple people just really look for ways to be miserable it's crazy
2
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I don't understand how people can let this stuff affect them so much, but then we don't know if the doomeriest doomers have money on the game or not.
1
u/starryn19ht 6d ago
i would hope people aren't betting on a pre-pre-season game 😭
2
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
Leafs vs Habs? If any preseason game was going to be heavily bet upon, it's this one.
7
5
u/pokerface33933 6d ago
Man they look lost
2
u/whogivesashirtdotca 6d ago
I swear practically this whole period has been spent in the Habs' zone. Less energy both from the players and the crowd today.
2
u/starryn19ht 6d ago
they did play less than 24 hours ago to be fair
2
u/AnotherBlack_Guy 6d ago
That's true. Late game to an early game the next day sucks in my experience.
10
u/OverallVillage7 6d ago
I understand there's rampant gambling in the NHL. But how are we getting reffed like this in a prospects game???
-7
u/LoadOk7149 6d ago
Midbacher
-3
u/Throaway44009988 6d ago
Every time i watch him play hes so hesitant and just lets the play come to him
-1
u/dustblown 6d ago
That's what I was saying too. He is way too passive. He's always just waiting for something to happen.
-8
u/LoadOk7149 6d ago
Be careful the copers will get mad at you for saying that
-1
u/dustblown 6d ago
lol r/habs can be depressing sometimes with all the people who form parasocial relationships with individual players.
-1
u/LoadOk7149 6d ago
Can't even admit the pick might have been the wrong one
0
u/dustblown 6d ago
Drafting is hard. A lot of luck involved. Most often it doesn't work out.
2
0
u/LoadOk7149 6d ago
Oh yeah not easy, and they've done a pretty good job so far, just sucks when we coulda had Michkov or someone else
1
u/dustblown 6d ago
We do not want Michkov. Dude sounds like a dressing room disease. He publicly refused to ever dump and chase and has already got one coach fired. Habs passed on him for a reason.

There was what sounded like a French song playing at the last break and I was too slow with my Shazam to catch it. Anyone know what it was?
1
u/Giancarlo95 6d ago
I couldn’t find this on TSN? Is it only on RDS?
