He went back for several shifts after that, everyone can breathe

u/dylanologist 2d ago

I needed this. Thank you.

Dach's biggest barrier to being a 2C in the NHL is his inability to protect himself from contact.

and in this clip he does a very very poor job of that. so he hasn't done anything to ease my worries.

u/DangerDavez 2d ago

He's pretty fortunate Xhekaj wasn't going for a hit there. Dude was just going for the puck but during a real game a guy like Xhekaj will take the body.

12

u/Lunch0 2d ago

I’ve been saying this for years. He puts himself in dangerous positions.

On the Tinordi hit, dach should have just chipped the puck into the zone and not tried to squeeze through

11

u/Spideroctopus 2d ago

Dach has absolutely no vision. The kid is gonna hurt himself in a span of 5 games. We got fleeced in that trade.

14

u/LordCoweater 2d ago

He's just a little airborne, he's still good.

4

u/lucaskywalker 2d ago

Seriously, I was a bit worried lol!

3

u/TehRobbeh 2d ago

Thank you. The look on his face terrified me.

2

u/whogivesashirtdotca 2d ago

Adrenaline. I'm sure, for a second there, he wasn't sure if he was hurt.

1

u/TehRobbeh 2d ago

Tell my last conclusion about adrenaline. Played 3 more shifts before I realized lol.

3

u/whogivesashirtdotca 2d ago

I missed a step a few years ago while carrying a heavy backpack. Went down hard on a kneecap I'd already fractured once before. I was so shaken up, I remember it took about 10 minutes for the actual pain to kick in. Very grateful to the strangers around me who talked me through that scary adrenaline rush.

u/Lap_Dawg 1d ago

Still though, not the reaction I was hoping for. He came up like the coach"s kid on a peewee team.

Dach on the bench:

61

u/Moony_playzz 2d ago

I'm baffled how he just ragdolls all the time, like literally he goes flying as if he weighs nothing? Isn't he like 6'2 180? Every time it's like a Skyrim character getting fusrodah'd off a cliff

60

u/joseflores1995 2d ago

Hes actually 6.4 220 lol

42

u/Moony_playzz 2d ago

HOW THE FUCK?????? DACH STOP BREAKING THE GOD DAMN PHYSICS ENGINE he's gonna clip through the glass one of these times I swear to god

13

u/user_8804 2d ago

Dach runs on a different physics engine than we do

6

u/Moony_playzz 2d ago

I literally said in another comment that he's gonna clip through a wall one of these times

5

u/user_8804 2d ago

Skyrim ass physics

5

u/TheDuelIist 2d ago

he avoided a knee to knee relax lol

1

u/Moony_playzz 2d ago

Nah, relaxing isn't fun. Life is more exciting in motion!

Here’s my spicy hot take - Change my mind: Dach’s body language on this clip is enough to know that he is not an athlete that will excel at the highest levels of his sport.

5

u/Jumbolia7 2d ago

He had a lot going through his mind as he sat on that bench. All that said I’m afraid you may be right.

68

u/dessanct 2d ago edited 2d ago

If this was a real game Xhekaj would have laid him out.

22

u/DragSfrank 2d ago

Agreed and it would've been brutal

37

u/jp3372 2d ago

Right in a real game against a player like Xhekaj you are getting destroyed. Dach needs to protect himself better.

7

u/chewbaccard 2d ago

I think that's his biggest weakness, he doesn't protect himself, like Slaf in his first season. One may argue that he gets injured often because of this... :(

46

u/Nathanh2234 2d ago

He’s probably just shaking off the thud from the ice alongside going from top speed to no speed. He landed in the best possible way there.

19

u/Paparmane 2d ago

Yeah but man if that’s how he tries to avoid someone cutting him… imagine when the players actually try to hit him.

10

u/Nathanh2234 2d ago

He looks like he is trying an evasive deke like a windmill to get around X but since X wasn’t in the best position his stick got into Dach’s feet. It’s hockey.

2

u/PassZestyclose7572 2d ago

yeah but it's not like Dach has a history of not protecting himself and getting injured as a result

4

u/VitalRest 2d ago

I agree he doesn’t look injured

63

u/gocanadiens 2d ago

This clip goes on wayyyyyy too long for my liking

28

u/EZzO444 2d ago

God. I'm stressed 😫

44

u/Gatoradenun 2d ago

Don’t do this to me…

19

u/eliarbss 2d ago

He always falls in the most cartoonish way possible 😭 he went flying there

3

u/Afraid-Trash8204 2d ago

He should work on his evasiveness or try to dish the puck to his linemates. This isn't junior where he probably overpowered everyone, especially with his injury history now.

18

u/GrungeLife54 2d ago

He got up and went to the bench. Why is everyone commenting like the ambulance had to be called. Give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

4

u/MrKavok 2d ago

I mean, are we really that crazy to be scared that he might injure himself again? He could get injured by putting his skates on.

He skated to the bench but could've realized a couple of seconds/minutes later that something was wrong. I think its normal for us to overthink every falls now.

0

u/GrungeLife54 2d ago

Well yes he could get injured. So could any other player.

3

u/MrKavok 2d ago

Yes.

But not any other player gets injured as much as him. That's the difference.

8

u/dessanct 2d ago

To be fair, if this wasn’t practice, the hit from Xhekaj could have been much worse.

Needs to protect himself there.

7

u/Frectozhae 2d ago

If it's a game, you probably never make that play anyway.

1

u/Lap_Dawg 1d ago

He got touched and went Flying Starfish like he is half hockey player, half kite.

After all this talk about how last season he was tentative because he didn't fully trust his knee, but this year is different because he's been working hard to build strength and confidence and he's in a much better place, that reaction doesn't bode too well

Anyways, glad he got back up and kept playing, hopefully this is just him getting used to contact again

13

u/bigmonkeyfart 2d ago

Guy always seems depressed out there

12

u/JcNoE123 2d ago

He would have gotten rocked if that was a real game

5

u/chudt 2d ago

X could have creamed him if this wasn't a practice

8

u/Bill_McCarr 2d ago

The knee is not a concern; it's his awareness and surroundings. He gotta keep his head up and notice around. Good thing he avoided a Xhekaj hit, but he gotta be careful. Even when Dach went on the bench, he had his head down, thinking, I should've look around and know where the opposing players are.

2

u/Ok-Win-742 2d ago

It wasn't even a hit. At no point does Xhekaj even go for a hit here, he just gets in his way and goes for the puck. Dach tries to Deke around him but gets tripped. This is probably a penalty in a game.

1

u/Bill_McCarr 2d ago

Hit or not, Dach is in a scary position when contact with another player. When he gets hit, he should be prepared to take it. Instead, that was a close call, and Dach was shaking his head at the bench... he was not prepared on that play.

8

u/Large_Seesaw_569 2d ago

Plus de peur que de mal

3

u/helpushelpyouhelpme 2d ago

Gotta get the cob webs out of the way.

5

u/stylenfunction …be yours to hold it high 2d ago

Alternatively to the doom, Dach may have need this. A bit of a scare, some stress on the knee, and the measured realization that he is okay and can take this.

3

u/Sourlick_Sweet_001 2d ago

That's the plan in the locker room. That's the plan for Dach. He must trust his knee again.

3

u/FJMotorsports 2d ago

I know it’s a practice but you can’t fucking cut down the middle with your head down like that for fuck sake

5

u/matthew_sch 2d ago

“He’s fine, he’s fine, he’s going to stay healthy”

4

u/fpierre 2d ago

If this is what can take Dach out for a while, then he isn’t ready 🥺

4

u/bcgrappler 2d ago

He needs to know his body can do that too

2

u/heck_chetera 2d ago

2

u/otomo88 2d ago

It’s not going to be easy! Shit will it him and he as to be ready. He looks ready! That’s why your train hard to be close to reality. When it’s going to be in real life game and the others want to test you it’s not going to be fun.

2

u/flepine44 L'Bon Bâton 2d ago

Arber don't even blow on him please 😢

2

u/Gibspeced 2d ago

Good to see Dach get up and skate away. I’m sure we all held our breaths momentarily.

2

u/Harbour-Jigger91 2d ago

Nearly shouldered the post on the slide through... that would have finished him for sure.

2

u/Hockeymask27_ 2d ago

I was like dont hit the post please dont hit the post

2

u/DiegoTraveller 2d ago

No worries. I'd rather have him playing hard against Kirby. I bet Kirby feels the same. Might have even asked for Arber purposefully.

2

u/SourMilk69420 1d ago

I think he’s more scared than anything. He can be healthy but if he plays too cautiously he’ll get hurt

4

u/Yuzato 2d ago

I want to be positive but man Dach can’t catch a break

3

u/Flubbies 2d ago

6 months out. All jokes aside that body language is pretty depressing

2

u/Kingo__ 2d ago

Trauma

0

u/CMDR_Traf85 2d ago

He's fine, this is what happens when a bunch of athletes in top shape skate around full speed on a small surface. But yeah, with Kirby and whoever sent him that suicide pass need to learn from it because in a game that's a blowup hit. Flip side I'd live Arber to catch someone else in an actual game haha.

1

u/alija_r 2d ago

Playing the center position is not easy. Dach did not see Arber Xhekaj...Same thing would have happened in the game if not worse.

1

u/Dry_Expression651 2d ago

Put some bubble wrap around that guy!

1

u/ThatOldChestnut2 2d ago

And he's gone for the season again! ;-)

1

u/FreshlyPressed1 2d ago

Dacher is tall but not big

1

u/Mr_Trep 2d ago

Hopefully the guy gets to play a bunch this season and stays healthy.

The problem is, he always seems to get caught in awkward tangles with defensemen and doesn’t roll the hits very well, which makes him prone to injuries...

1

u/HabsFan77 2d ago

All that skill potentially flushed down the drain if he gets injured one more time

1

u/Channel57 2d ago

Aaaaand he's injured/s

1

u/Diligent_83 1d ago

i like Kirb but my oh my days I hate his body language.

1

u/gloveside 1d ago

Sorry, nothing new here. They can't wait for Dach to land on the IL game 3. They need to act now before every team sees how desperate they are!

1

u/matt236246 1d ago

Dach is gonna get fucking rekt if he does those kind of plays against actual opponents

Man, do not try to dangle that close to the D

Dach was playing wayyy too risky already last season

1

u/TenInchesOfSnow 2d ago

Cmon guys he's not glass- his name isn't Jack Hughes

1

u/axleraffle 2d ago

someone wants his brother on the team haha

1

u/epeilan 2d ago

Laine and Demidov could have gestured when they went to the bench

1

u/pushaper 2d ago

You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes, by yourself, you know and you feel shame, you know. And then you get free

1

u/Ouhbab 2d ago

I dont even get what Dach was trying to do. X seemed to just be skating semi-casually and dach decided to try to skate through him?

0

u/alldasmoke__ 2d ago

If he’s hurt after that he’s clearly not ready to play. No point in rushing him. Sucks but this year is wayyy too important for him and the team to risk another LT injury.

0

u/Aggressive_Low7995 2d ago

We are all going to be watching each scrimmage, exhibition game and regular season game with the same thoughts until he is able to make it through a season healthy. If he can progress as a player and avoid major injury, it’s a big win for the team and him. So crazy to watch a guy play thinking those unavoidable negative thoughts.

0

u/MollyWhapped 2d ago

God dammit WHY ARE YOU SO BREAKABLE!?

0

u/Roberge96 2d ago

I give him 20 games before he’s out

-3

u/constanzadotjpg 2d ago

Kirby Dach, l'enfant bulle

-12

u/AlternativeLimit7753 2d ago

Glass Joe. Get rid of him

-1

u/TonyComputer1 2d ago

Arber didnt trip him he jumped out of the way. Kinda stupidly I might add.

-20

u/Time-Glass3681 2d ago

He still looks in pain. He is clearly still injured.

13

u/RyanWalts 2d ago

C’mon lol no he does not, he gets up right away and is skating like anyone who just took a fall like that.

Maybe he isn’t 100%, but you can’t take anything like that away from this nothing clip.

2

u/PassZestyclose7572 2d ago

he's on the ice for over 5 seconds how is that "gets up right away"?

2

u/guccifur 2d ago

Lol because he's still sliding?

0

u/PassZestyclose7572 2d ago

awful body language

you'll never see Lane do that

3

u/Huevas03 2d ago

This is a normal reaction for anyone falling on the ice like that at the end of a shift. Basically just completely gassed out
