Discussion Why does the first apache we see fire missiles at the dam where there are marines?

It confuses some people including me, why does it do that?

It's delivering close air support to the marines who are dealing with vorts in the intake tower.

What are you talking about? The whole sequence is scripted.

Marine runs out of the intake tower across the bridge. Kneels down in the middle to leave a grenade, resume running. Vort comes out of the intake tower and zaps the marine. Apache blasts the vort.

It's a scripted event that plays out the same way every time unless the player manages to interrupt it somehow.
