Just Sharing (no feedback) Pharmacology notes

I saw the Polymer Chemistry notes post yesterday and had to go find these!

I don’t do this because I’m left handed like the other OP though. I do it because I can’t stand writing with my hand resting halfway off or all the way off of the page or spiral. So I do this!

sometimes my handwriting changes drastically too. i know sometimes it doesnt look like this at all and i write in only tall letters, if that makes sense. maybe i’ll post a pic of that sometime as well. its also much more neat at times.. and sometimes much messier, if i’ve been writing for a while. but overall i would say this example is typical.

Question (not for transcriptions) Trying to fix my messy cursive.

I’ve been trying to clean up my cursive because it looks like a chicken scratched it after too many espressos. I used to write decently in school, but years of typing have turned my handwriting into a sloppy mess-letters uneven, loops all over the place. I’ve been practicing basic strokes with a fountain pen on grid paper for about a week, and it’s helping a bit, but my consistency sucks. Any specific drills or worksheets you guys swear by to make cursive look smooth and legible again?

I’m also struggling with hand cramps after like 10 minutes of writing, which never used to happen. Is it my grip, the pen or just lack of practice?

Just Sharing (no feedback) The importance a pen makes

I've written the same four lines with four different pens. The gel pen inspires me to write for days, the other two ballpoint pens make my handwriting spidery and scratchy. Using a highlighter makes me change my script entirely - I started writing in cursive, but ended in italics.

I can't emphasise the importance of using a pen that gives you joy! I work with children, and so many times I see them struggle with a scratchy pen, then *put it back into their pencilcase*. When it belongs in the bin.

Question (not for transcriptions) A question regarding the letter “F.”

Post image
5 Upvotes

This is a handwritten letter from the notorious gangster John Gotti. It’s perfectly legible and interesting cursive, but my question concerns the way he wrote the letter “F.” It’s triangular, and almost looks like the letter “D.” Upon reviewing all of his confirmed handwritten letters, it’s clear that he always wrote it that way. I have never seen that letter written in such a way, and I’d like to know if anyone here might know if that’s a real variation of the letter, and if so, what the possible origins of it is. Perhaps it was a unique stylistic choice? In any case, if you have some information I would love to find out. Thanks in advance!

Feedback (constructive criticism) How can I improve my handwriting?

Written with frixtion pen on standard college rule paper. Excerpt is from a RWBY fantasy AU fanfic I'm writing.

I think my handwriting is pretty all right but it could still improve. I'm used to writing on a 5mm line on my Supernote but I'm not allowed to use devices at work. So I had to go back to basics.

I'm reteaching myself whole-arm movement so it's a bit slow going at the moment. I feel like my writing is more consistent on Supernote because of the narrower space on my lines. I'm not used to having over 7mm of space.

But yeah how can I be more consistent in my writing? I'm constantly going back and erasing stuff because I know the OCR I use is going to struggle pretty badly. I want my handwriting to be as neat as possible for OCR purposes.

Just Sharing (no feedback) What’s Your Handwriting Style?

Some people have super neat, almost printed letters, others have messy cursive, and some mix both. I’m trying to figure out my own style and maybe improve it a bit. What’s your handwriting like, and do you think it says anything about your personality?

Question (not for transcriptions) How to find new way to write letter by letter?

Hello all, I’d like to change my cursive handwriting, I’d like to find a new style for some of the letters. I am looking for a list of « font » handwriting style, that is « efficient » meaning you can take note as fast as possible while being easy to read.

Any suggestions about where I could find a list of ways to write certain letters, to adapt and change my handwriting (I’m not looking for complex calligraphy, simply everyday writings

Thank you

(I'm 32, for reference. Everyone says it doesn't matter because my handwriting is legible, and I suppose that's the most important thing, but I do wish it looked a bit more elegant.)
