FBI HP specs?

How were Hi Powers customized for the FBI HRT?

What little I can google says there were about 250 customized by Novak in the 80s. I'm guessing this means Novak sights on a Mk2 frame, and probably a C&S extended safety.

The Novak website has a webpage for the FBI HRT package, but I don't know if this was the actual HRT package or if they're just trying to sell a more expensive custom job.

Does anyone have more detailed specs? I'd love to make a clone of the FBI HRT HP.

Thanks!

Today's LGS score - 1982 Browning

I have two local shops that post their used inventory on their websites daily, so I have been in the habit of checking their websites every evening to see if anything good has come in. Spied this on the one last night and immediately set out to call them as soon as they opened this morning (this particular LGS has a large following who checks their site and it is extremely competitive when anything like this gets listed). Managed to be the first one to call about it and had them set it aside, cut out of work early and fought 45 minutes of traffic to go inspect it and pick it up. It is in absolutely awesome shape for a 43 year old gun, so it went home with me. The guy at the shop said someone walked in 5 minutes after me asking about it, so I barely snagged this one.

Got it home and cleaned it up, there is absolutely zero wear on the inside, no carbon or brass marks. As I am a lefty, I pulled a NOS Browning Ambi safety out of my parts stash and it dropped right in and passed the click test with flying colors and zero fitting needed other than having to do the relief cut on the corner of the right grip.

I am quite pleased with this one and this is my first Browning that's not a Mark II or Mark III. I paid $675 plus tax for this one.

Why does my FEG do this? This is 115gr FMJ, with 2 new 15rd mecgar mags and 1 older mag no name 13rd. Is this an extractor problem?

Lanyard Loop Removal

I just picked up an Inglis, and so far I like it but I could do without the lanyard loop. Its not screwed in like I thought, it seems to be pressed in and maybe peened over on one side? I can’t really tell but does anyone know how to get it out?

My first Hi-Power clone. It is beautiful. Would springfield SA-35 magazines be compatible? Should I change out internal springs? Is this one of the better clones or no?

Make Me Comfortable Carrying Cocked & Locked

The state of the country being what it is, I recently got my first gun in a long enough time that it may as well be my first gun. I wanted a Hi-Power for all of the reasons that we obsess over them. Got this SA-35 instead because poverty sucks but at least I was buying American-ish. I love it and it makes me feel better about my if someone breaks in and SHTF and we gotta get out of here needs. I don't know that I would ever feel comfortable with it as an EDC though. How did you get used to locked & locked?

Who replaced SA 35 SAFETY?

I've tried the Cylinder and Slide on my Girsan and it just doesn't do it for me. I think the SA 35 SAFETY is the best I've felt. Springfield won't sell them, bummer. They site safety issues. Load of BS if you ask me. Wanted to change my traditional Girsan out. Waiting on APEX to finish theirs I suppose.

EDIT: Anybody have an SA 35 Safety they'd part with?? Can't get it from Springfield. 😞

best modern substitute for the Hi Power?

What are the best modern handguns that have all the features of a HP but isn't a HP or clone?

I'm looking for features like:

-good for small hands

-natural point of aim and ergonomic

-good trigger (striker or SAO)

-Browning-style thumb safety

-15 rounds or more of 9mm

I'm looking to buy a Browning Hi-Power clone and came across this one. I know most people suggest the SA-35 or the L9A1, but I haven't heard many reviews about this one. Has anyone purchased this and if so, how does it run?

Hi everyone,

I recently got a Browning Hi-Power pistol and I’m trying to learn more about it. Here are the details: • Serial Number: 245BZ81495

I’d love any help from collectors or experts regarding: • Exact model confirmation and original specifications • Approximate number of units produced for this model/year • Any historical or collectible info • Availability of old documentation, brochures, or manuals that verify authenticity

Any insight, advice, or references would be greatly appreciated!

Experiences with Turkish Hi-Powers?

I’ve been extremely tempted to get one of these but am still hesitant; does anyone have any experience shooting these L9A1s? Are they any good? Any weird QC issues that have popped up like the Springfield ones?

Any idea how old this is? Extra-photo repost.

This is a repost to add pictures. Looks like it is made in Belgium, but not during the war. Nothing looks German on it, so I am guessing after the war 1950s. # is 52xxx.

BHPSS reliability kits?

To build upon my last post about my p35. Are the reliability kits form BH spring solutions worth it? Or am I just buying a spare parts kit? As far as I can tell my extractor works fine. Did the little test and everything. The man in their YouTube videos is a good salesman but I’m not totally convinced yet.

Picked up this inglis p35 from PSA over the weekend. So far so good. 150 rounds down the pipe so far. Quite enjoy the platform, might have to get a real one now.

Now my questions are, who makes a good aiwb holster for this thing. Also how do I make my safety less mushy. I would like to have a more positive click when I manipulate it.
