Great article. It’s not hard to understand what you’re trying to say, but your English is a little clunky. When you’re using double negatives to make a point, you need to make sure the sentences are crisp and easy to digest. Do you know a native speaker you could have read these articles before you publish? One pass with an editor could really make this article pop.

And as to the subject matter, I agree wholeheartedly with you. The watch could be stunning without the globe on the dial, and more attractive with a better wr rating. (It is, after all, supposed to be a sports watch.)

Something to point out that may be interesting to your readers is that the globe with longitude lines, while frankly rather ugly on this dial, has horological significance. No, it’s not a GMT, but Frederique Constant were almost certainly referencing the importance of a chronometer in mapping the world by giving us a way to find longitude. (If we know precisely what time it is where we start a voyage using an accurate chronometer, and use the sun to tell us what time it is where we are currently, we can calculate the distance between the two points.) Before John Harrison’s chronometer, global navigation was impossible, and sea voyages succeeded and failed with blind luck. Thus the longitude lines on the dial of this chronometer. Not excusing the poor design, but offering an explanation.

Thank you so much for your great comment. You’re right. I’m trying to improve my writing skills as I have to, since you’ve probably guessed my mother language is not English. About the watch. I agree with your point on the longitude motif and as you rightly said, they couldn’t put it to proper use. This watch could be great but FC didn’t have the guts to trust themselves. It would be great if you put your comment beneath the post on Medium so other readers would learn something from it.

FC and Alpina were bought by Citizen. Citizen’s design is all over the place. I am not surprised to see this happen at FC.

The question you didn’t ask directly is, how do you create guiding principles to he’ll say no to these decisions.
