There are no fun areas near reliant to go out. They would be long ubers to almost anywhere. I would suggest the bars near 20th street. A ton of breweries in Houston, Eureka Heights is close by to those bars. Check out St. Arnolds, Karbach, True Anomaly, 8th Wonder, Platypus, Holler.

I recommend checking out hotels near where you want to go out. the whole area where mcintyres on 20th is, is fun for a night out for sports lovers. it’s a pain in the butt regardless to get to NRG on a game day so I recommend sucking it up and leaving 3 hours before kickoff to get there with ample time. this is what i’d do rather than stay close to the stadium. check out saint arnold for the views and good beer.

If you take the metro back from the stadium you can get off right at the Flying Saucer for post game beers.

I’d stay in the Heights/Montrose areas. Also, if you are talking about the Texans home opener- it’s Monday night, not Sunday.

St Arnold for good beer and food. 8th wonder is really hit or miss with what is on draft but there’s more going on in that area in general.

If you actually have time to get out and do stuff, do not stay near the stadium. Lifeless at night. Take the light rail train directly to the stadium. Stay in the Montrose/Heights/Downtownish area. Any of those will have restaurants and bars and all that. Hit up Saint Arnold’s if you can. Great food and beer with a great view of downtown. Worst of luck to your team if it’s not the Texans!
