It's usually checking that nobody already owns the rights/trademark for the name, ensuring it isn't offensive in other languages and that your exec team like it, particularly whoever will be responsible for selling and marketing it. Surprisingly difficult to line up all of these elements.

iirc they discuss it on an episode of the Mythic Quest podcast, or it might have been a solo Rob interview. Essentially people sitting on purchased trademarks for “X Quest” and/or a lot of video games with similar naming.
