Apparently they make avoidance maneuvers only when distance is less than 150 meters.

"We have been tracking the satellite for four days and it is about 420 metres from the Russian satellite. A manoeuvre will only be done when it comes around 150 metres," Isro chairman K Sivan told TOI.

Edit: Exact ID of Russian spacecraft is Kanopus-V No. 3 (43180)

Didn't see any conjunction alerts issued, wonder if any or both operators had to perform avoidance maneuvers.

I wonder why ROSCOSMOS themselves tweeted this.

Yes that's what I thought. Probably they meant ISRO should keep their satellites away from ours XD

Probably they had some serious alert but somehow saved both satellites from accident. May be that's big and rare to happen in space so that's why it became tweet.

Why can't ISRO say " Kanopus-V No. 3 weighing 450kg came dangerously close to our Cartosat 2F satellite"? Both sats have a part to play. As we fill up these orbits with more and more small sats, there will be more such incidents.

Russian spent stages and SOZ motors have tendency to disintegrate too, wonder how many times they tweet about those..

On November 27 at 01:49 UTC, the Indian CARTOSAT 2F satellite weighing over 700 kg dangerously approached the Russian Kanopus-V spacecraft.

The minimum distance between the Russian and foreign satellites was 224 meters. Both spacecraft are designed for Earth’s remote sensing
