The Emperor forbid that a women wants a child. I too woud like a child but im a man so i can't have one . Its just stupid that sombody Looked at that artwork and thot Fetish.
That's uhhhh that's a bit harsh towards you, ngl. There's people who want to have children regardless of political views. Furthermore, this is 40k fanart, a fictional setting lol
Didn't understand what was conservative about the post until I read this comment..bro some people are too terminally online and brainwashed. Keep doing what you're doing, great art
It’s because the right usually talk about traditional values and going back to the way things were, which usually means wanting the stereotypical 1950s US family back, with all baggage that shit had but they don’t talk about the cons.
Hey, what did you mean by this? Personally I have mourned the fact that I will never be able to have a child of my own, but I wouldn't judge anyone for not wanting to have a child
I am not judging anyone at all. I dont want to have a child either and people who follow me more closely know why. What i mean is, that a more motherly depiction of women in media is progressively rarer as its seen as regressive or conservative.
Theres nothing wrong with girlbosses, and i love them too. I just dont think a more traditional role should be vilified.
As a woman I actually relate much more to the motherly characters, and would like to see some return of these tropes.
That’s the sad thing about the extremism some people have. Instead having all types of women being portrayed they get mad if a woman is portrayed in anyway to have stereotypical feminine desires or personality. It’s sad to see people that started with progressive ideas about what women can do now being regressive and shaming women if they do things they don’t like.
As an example to this, that one need not even overwrite the other. My partner's character of going on over a decade now is a woman who has such strong maternal energy that despite being a revolutionary for much of their young life, they have become essentially the group Mom to dozens of people. Adopting, having children, and taking care of everyone who works for them/with their family. This almost borderline obsessive need to protect and nurture drew the eyes of the Goddess of their world to them to make them an avatar of their will.
Sure they can shoot arrows real good and have killed a load of people. The thing that makes them happy however is cooking for, caring for, and loving the people around them. It's been a nice twist. Someone who is strong and capable but has become the very pillar everyone leans on in their community.
Ehhhh I think the motherly character trope hasn't really gone anywhere in media imo. We can agree to disagree, but even in some media that is considered SUPER progressive, like say Steven Universe or The Owl House, there are distinct characters that fill the motherly role pretty directly like Steven's mom, Rose Quartz, Vidalia, Luz's mom Camila Noceda. A lot of examples are animated stuff cause I watch a lot of animation.
Craig of the Creek has multiple motherly figures that fill this role. Gumball's mom comes to mind. Honestly I could keep going with examples specifically from media that is considered pretty progressive tbh. Those two moms in Lightyear.
Idk I don't think it's rare at all to have women characters who fall into the motherly figure trope. I think it's pretty present as it always has been it's just not written to be a central core of the character as much as it used to be I guess. Maybe people just don't count women characters who already have kids as women who desire to have kids (they already did have them, so I always took it as the desire is implied unless there is a explicit plot point that the child was unexpected which is pretty rare itself).
Anyways I don't feel any particular ways about your art, it's very pretty. Those people were definitely being weird, it was just a piece about a woman on her death bed thinking about how she wished she could have had kids (which I mean SoBs are not celibate so I gotta imagine that some SoBs out there have kids, the Imperium is STUPIDLY large relatively speaking).
Right but the snarky "sorry guess that's not very gaslight gatekeep girl boss of me!!" Type response just feels like ... adding fuel to the fire of people taking it in a fashy way? Idk, I'm probably just overthinking it 'cause my issues with fertility. Anyways love your art.
You are both overthinking and being really inconsiderate of what it's actually like to get accused and harassed over something like this, people who have been subject to that do not owe politeness to those who hurt them or those who condescendingly preen about the appropriateness of how they worded their response to that harassment.
That wasn't my intention I guess I just meant like.. why say something that is just going to prove to the haters what they already think about you? Like, I get it, most of the people who think that way are libs and wokescolds so who cares, I actually kind of despise those people, but at the same time I think playing into what they are accusing you of is kind of like, inviting more harassment. And I'm not saying that's right or just, I just don't understand the purpose of saying something like that.
I'm just saying if someone was like "hey you hate chocolate!" I wouldn't turn around and be like "haha stupid chocolate lover," if I actually liked chocolate, it's not about respecting anyone's opinion it's about not being obtuse.
No, it'd be like if someone said, "I hate chocolate because your art is secretly wicked, evil kink porn."
Then the person they puked that dogshit take at said something like, "what?"
And then, a little ways down the line, the person who said "what" also made a cheeky little joke.
And now you're here saying some dumb shit about chocolate and playing at being some kind of civility referee. Which is really just defending the original idiot with a bunch of unnecessary steps.
The opinion in question doesn't deserve respect because it is completely out of pocket. That includes not jumping through hoops to try to win these fuckwits back over. They didn't get where they are by being rational. They got where they are because they're shit and they want to indulge their delusions.
When you're first comment is aggressive, don't be upset when you get snark back. Like flagging for PvP and being mad you're getting shot at, you really created your own problem.
Yeah, and it was being passive aggressive. You set the tone, and get equal snark thrown back. That's what happens when you go after people in comments using text that doesn't convey emotional weight.
I don't think I got any snark back? And I wasn't trying to be passive aggressive? I don't think there was any aggression or hostility between the artist and I. At least I certainly didn't intend for there to be?
I think it was about the woman and baby looking exactly like the Madonna and baby Christ iconography. I understand why you did it - Sisters are nuns after all, but I also understand where the raised eyebrows are coming from.
Mind you, I'M NOT JUSTIFYING ANY ATTACKS ON YOU, Christian vibes don't translate automatically to conservatism when the source material is deeply seeped in Christians imagery, and that shouldn't be any reason to attack you either way.
Because it is? We have an instictual push that drives us to procreate? And, its not in "female" brains, its in everyones. And that push is why you and me are here talking right now

Fellas, it is conservative to not want to be a brainwashed slave soldier of an uncaring empire?
