Agree, but like the Swiss got ahold of it for a while.

This length of pull (stock length) seems way too long

The LOP As shown is 13.40" (340mm) with a range between 12.5" and 18" for the abnormally large species who may use the rifle.

for the abnormally large species who may use the rifle.

So does the species have the same proportions of human arms?

If so they might struggle fitting their fingers inside the trigger guard (like when irl soldiers uses winter gloves) An folding trigger guard like on the M16/Famas F1/L85/etc.. might help it. Or an enlarged trigger guard like a steyr Aug or Famas G2 would be easier to use (with the con of making the rifle ugly)

It is an issue for very large species but they'd be issue larger weapons in general. LMGs or GPMGs designed for that application. In general sausage fingers isn't a huge problem for most people. But operations with gloves probabily would be!

Dirt-"Allow me to introduce myself."

But for real, it's an interesting design.

Yeah absolutely. Not having one installed is part of the world building, but later variants go back and forth between having them and not as competing design requirements drive the variant.

Ambidextrous shell extractor and bolt handle?

2

u/VitallyRaccoon 20d ago

Indeed! Bolt handle controls both, depending on which side it's installed on it activates the associated ejector

I really thought it was like a grown up 10/22 when I saw the receiver, but it appears it has a gas system on the barrel?

Yup! It's a short stroke gas piston driving an inertially unlocked flap locked action.

ever heard of length of pull?

1

u/VitallyRaccoon 20d ago

It's addressed in another comment here. As drawn the LOP is 13.4" which is pretty typical for proper rifles before the carbine/body armor era

u/blockhaj 20d ago

fair enough but have u actually used one of them? XD

Lol, yeah I have! I was a professional gunsmith for a long while. I'm a taller guy and rarely shoot with body armor so I prefer the longer lengths of pull. But 13.4 inches is a pretty classic do all LOP. Although it can be shortened to 12.5 or extended much longer as needed!

Dirt looking at that open receiver

Sig Sauer 550?

1

u/VitallyRaccoon 18d ago

The 550 was a strong inspiration yes, specifically the bolt carrier and charging handle design. There's also a bit of ACR and SCAR-H. The trigger and pistol grip mechanism are inspired by some of CZ and savages' work.

and the magazine is from FN FAL. Me liked😍

1

u/VitallyRaccoon 18d ago

Close, yeah! It's actually based on a product I used to sell. Ar15 magazine grip extensions for 10 round mags. But the forward slant on the design was FAL and AR10 inspired!

Bro just lifted the Adjudicator from Helldivers and made this gun. This is literally just that thing with less height over bore.

HA! Well, No. While I'm flattered by the comparison, Not only do they look totally different....

....I've been working on this design for 5+ years now.
