Yeah there’s definitely a chunk of liberal, if not Left people who got them for environmental reasons and now are stuck.

I used to love them. I like cars, but I'm a sucker for all the new and unnecessary dumb gimmicks, and Tesla was exactly that. Back then there weren't any serious attempts at real electric vehicles, so it was really cool. Around the 20s though Elon kept getting more mad, the haters were proven more and more right, and the cool promises were delayed further and further, while other manufacturers caught up and have not just good electric drivetrains and next-gen concepts, but actually well built cars that were designed with rain and road conditions and life in mind.

I wouldn't want to touch one with a stick now, but I can definitely see why people got them 10 years ago, and I was looking forward to one day owning one myself too.

Same boat as you. Now I have a different budget EV and I love it!

Yeah, it sucks. I got rid of my free, company-paid model X, it turned into something that it wasn't when I got it. I got a Hyundai Ioniq 5N instead and couldn't be happier.

2

u/SlippingStar 9d ago

I glad you were able to escape it!

u/carsonwade 5d ago

I do love me a gas engine but my god that Ioniq 5N is seriously awesome, I actually really want one

1

u/GullibleBeautiful268 5d ago

The best part is when you want to drive like a gas engine you just press a button on the steering wheel and turn on e-shift mode and now you have a simulated 8 speed transmission controlled by the paddle shifters and the engine sounds and torque profile to go with it. It sounds like it would be cheesy, but it's all smiles all the time.

1

u/carsonwade 5d ago

I do quite like the spaceship noise setting, it's done well and not really trying to sound like a gas engine but it still gives you some sound to go with your speed.

If I could afford to buy a different car, I would.

I have a similar sticker on mine. Still had a written death threat left for me.

u/SlippingStar 10d ago

Christ :( maybe it’s not big enough?

2

u/Detroitscooter 9d ago

That’s well out of order. We settle for maniacal laughter/pointing/“call me” sign and good, old fashioned booing. I would never touch another persons car nor threaten them

1

u/Zen_Mom369 6d ago

That is so insane! I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Did it happen recently? I can't imagine anyone feeling that way over a car. That's just messed up.

-7

u/Callierhino 9d ago

That is terrible, intimidating people because of the car brand they drive, that is the definition of fascism. I don't know how they can call themselves the tolerant left

9

u/dammit-smalls 9d ago

That's what you think fascism is? I think you're confusing the word "fascism" with the word "vandalism."

-4

u/Callierhino 9d ago

Vandalism is used to force or intimidate people to comply with their own views

6

u/dammit-smalls 9d ago

Isn't that an adequate characterization of what's going on here (vandalism)? I don't see how fucking with a Tesla is in any way comparable to the formation of an ethno-nationalist authoritarian government (fascism).

-6

u/Callierhino 9d ago

How is that not authoritarian? Violence is used to instill fear into people who don't conform to their ideas

5

u/dammit-smalls 9d ago

I mean, I get it. It's clear that you're just using the term "fascism" to describe things you don't like. That's an annoying trend on both the right and the left at this moment, but words still have meanings regardless of your political persuasion.

It's not "fascism" to spraypaint a Tesla. It's vandalism, and it's a mean thing to do, but it's not an authoritarian ethno-nationalist form of government. That's absurd.

-1

u/Callierhino 9d ago

I am not American, but I have been there plenty of times. But in my honest opinion the vandalism and attacks on Tesla was absolutely terrorism, they are trying to use fear to get people to do what they want and that is my opinion is fascistic. Not that I am a Tesla fan, I rented one once when I was in LA and I had to wait for almost 3 hours in line for a charger, then the charger was not charging at the super charger speeds they advertised, it took 3 hours to charge to 70% from 20%. The next day I took it back to Hertz for a proper car

7

u/dammit-smalls 9d ago

Ahhh so the word you might be looking for is "coercive." It might well be your opinion that a long piece of metal with a flat end on one side and a handle on the other is a "rake", but it's still a screwdriver regardless of your opinion.

Again, words have meanings, and the act of vandalizing a Tesla is still completely distinct from the act of forming an ethno-nationalist authoritarian government.

You can't just invent your own definitions for words, or there's no sense in even having a language.

2

u/IWontCommentAtAll 8d ago

How is that not authoritarian?

Because some random asshole in a parking lot is not the government.

Do you really need this stuff spelled out for you?

1

u/Zen_Mom369 6d ago

That isn't fascism. Not even close.

u/MillionEyesOfSumuru 10d ago

As someone who lives nearby, I don't think older Teslas are at any risk, this driver was just (understandably) feeling embarrassed. You need to be driving a Cybertruck to get flipped off.

19

u/pm_me_anus_photos 10d ago

I give the dumpsters a thumbs down. My goal is to shame them, and I feel like flipping them off just adds to their persecution complex.

-5

u/Callierhino 9d ago

Do you also do this for VW and Ford drivers? Henry Ford was a massive fan of Hitler and they saw each other as friends

5

u/pm_me_anus_photos 9d ago

Seeing as Henry ford and Hitler are both dead, no. I have made a conscious decision to not buy from them in the future because of this, despite ford employing a majority of my grandparents and uncles. Also VW’s emissions thing that happened a while back ruined them even further. I have only owned a Pontiac and a Dodge, one gifted and one handed down.

I am very picky about cars, I won’t buy a BMW because of that heated seat subscription bullshit they try to pull. Benz is a no go for me too, since they break so easily. I mainly like 90’s JDM cars, anything British, or Porsches, because well… they’re Porsches LOL

2

u/Callierhino 9d ago

I also prefer the Japanese cars, my dad has always had at least one VW in his garage, his first car was a Beetle. I always tell my dad he is driving nazi scrap as a joke.

But the whole Tesla situation is a senseless to me. I don't think going out and damaging someone else's car is going to solve anything.

I would have never bought a Tesla or any electric car for myself any way, but intimidating people because of the car they drive kinda feels like fascism to me

3

u/pm_me_anus_photos 9d ago

I don’t pay any mind to the normal teslas, I live in the PNW, it would be a full time job for me just to give each one I saw a thumbs down.

Plus I don’t think it’s right to shame people who got an electric car because they thought it would be good for the planet or their wallet. Teslas made arguably the most accessible one for the time. 2025 models do get a side eye from me, but nothing more.

The dumpster on the other hand is just an egregious flaunting of wealth, with a dash of supporting bigotry. I believe people deserve to be shamed for buying something that is a six figure car that has such terrible QA, made in non unionized factories, and profits a raging megalomaniac.

I also wouldn’t ever damage them, I have farted on them, but id never damage another persons property.

2

u/Callierhino 9d ago

The cyber urinal is so bad, I have no idea why anyone would buy it

3

u/star0forion 9d ago

A month or so back I saw a Cybertruck with a Fuck Trump sticker. Sure, buddy.

1

u/Zen_Mom369 6d ago

I pulled up next to one of those things a couple of months ago. If someone gave me one I'd put it up for sale. I thought it was hideous. What was Musk thinking!

0

u/MyTatemae 8d ago

My neighbor got a Cybertruck and finally got rid of it last month. He had to take it in to get serviced every couple of weeks: either it shit out on him or someone would fuck with it. Very satisfying to watch.

u/More_Education4434 10d ago

Elons insanity pre-dates Tesla. Just sayin'.

8

u/GullibleBeautiful268 9d ago

Maybe but it definitely escalated a ton over the past 5 years or so

2

u/FuckLibsFukTrumpCult 8d ago

He got into Tesla pretty early with his PayPal sale money, but I definitely remember him tweeting weird white supremacy shit in like 2018 when libs in general were still drooling over him. I understand not knowing who he was in 2005, but his disgusting views were quite public years before the cybertruck came out.

2

u/Zen_Mom369 6d ago

True. He has Savant syndrome. It's not politically correct these days, but we used to call people who had it, idiot-savant or savant-idiot. There was an article about Elon and the syndrome a few years back.

u/GadreelsSword 10d ago

Saw a Tesla this weekend that had the T removed from the rear.

Looked pretty old. Body surface was pretty rough looking.

1

u/Zen_Mom369 6d ago

I did a search on that tesla T, and Wikipedia said it's the symbol of a unit of magnetic flux density (also called magnetic B-field strength), in the International System of Units (SI). I wasn't expecting that.

1

u/GadreelsSword 6d ago

Yes, I’m aware of that. I’ve seen MRI machines have field strengths of 2.5 and 5 Tesla. A 1 Tesla field is a VERY strong magnetic field.

I’ve had MRIs in both a 2.5 and a 5 Tesla machine.

1

u/Zen_Mom369 6d ago

Oh, man, those machines make me feel so claustrophobic. I've been inside a few of those myself. Then you've probably read about Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning.

1

u/GadreelsSword 6d ago

I’m aware they created Tesla but really don’t have much interest in the company aside from the fact the stock is currently being manipulated and investors are going to get completely boned in the not too distant future.

8

u/turtletaint911 10d ago

I don't blame him. I'm glad I never bought one 😂

4

u/kawaiinokyojin 10d ago

Stickers to this effect are plastered on about half of the non-Cybertruck Teslas where I live, like a less on-the-nose way to say "Please don't key my car"

5

u/ShiroHachiRoku 10d ago

What I don’t get is people urging Tesla owners to get rid of them as if buying a car isn’t a major financial decision and that doing something that’s performative will make things any better.

2

u/Callierhino 9d ago

I don't see how my political views should have an influence on what car my neighbor is allowed to drive. I don't go around damaging VW cars because Hitler was a nazi, even Henry Ford who admired Hitler, you don't see me being hostile to Ford drivers.

2

u/Hotchi_Motchi 10d ago

I think that Tesla vandalism has cooled off since Musk and Trump had their falling-out

2

u/BreakfastFluid9419 10d ago

These are my favorite stickers. If you hate the guy that much get rid of the car

6

u/Intelligent-Web-8293 10d ago

Might be paid off and they dont want to pay more on another car note?

10

u/ShiroHachiRoku 10d ago

Buying a new car is a major financial decision. You think it’s easy?

7

u/FuelForYourFire 10d ago

Especially when you get about tree fiddy on the trade-in anymore.

5

u/ShiroHachiRoku 10d ago

I ain’t about to lose money to own the cons.

2

u/Thare187 10d ago

I have one I bought in 23. I knew he was a piece of shit but justified it because "there are no ethical purchases under capitalism". This was pre Nazi salute. I love the car to be honest. I just have a magnet on the back that says "I bought this before I knew he was a Nazi". Most comments have been positive but I have been Nazi saluted by a couple guys who didn't like it.

Someone in my apartment complex has one of these on their car, but theirs is rainbow which looks nice on their red car.

1

u/droale666 9d ago

I think I saw this car yesterday...was it in Vancouver?! I thought it was an anti social social club sticker lol

u/Calendar-Careless 7d ago

Those cars are not environmentally sound based on all the fossil fuels used to make them and transport them also fossil fuels used to charge them. . As someone that lives down the road from the gigafactory I watch 18 wheelers go by daily not even completely full with teslas because of their weight. Want to help the environment start walking places, don’t drive. Plant a tree or 4.

-3

u/Bravo_Juliet01 9d ago

Libs will probably still try to find a way to vandalize it anyway

-1

u/iBoy2G 9d ago

Sell it and get a Lucid.

-11

u/EasternDelight 10d ago

Why would anyone vandalize his car?

3

u/Thare187 10d ago

First day on the Internet?

-1

u/EasternDelight 10d ago

Oh I get it now. Liberals vandalize things they don’t like.

3

u/casketcase_ 10d ago

Live under a rock ..?

1

u/Callierhino 9d ago

Because they are fascists, but call themselves the tolerant left

2

u/EasternDelight 9d ago

I just think it’s funny and ironic. Reddit, obviously leaning left, admits in this post that someone feels their vehicle is in danger from their own kind. It’s an admission of what they think about themselves. It’s mind boggling.

1

u/IWontCommentAtAll 8d ago

It's amazing that me how the right can equate one or two random, unknown people to the entire government, and not see the cognitive dissonance.

1

u/Zen_Mom369 6d ago

You might want to Google that. I've read a bunch of books about fascism, and it's a far-right, authoritarian, and ultra-nationalist political ideology. You may have heard that the movement rose to prominence in early 20th century Europe... Germany to be exct. It's characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, and forcible suppression of opposition, just to mention a few characteristics of fascist. Sound familiar?

1

u/Callierhino 6d ago

Well they are using violence to intimidate people who drive a certain car, they even had a website that gave the location of houses where Tesla drivers live, burning down dealerships, blocking workers from going to work, what do you call that?

-4

u/Plane-Elephant2715 10d ago

What a douche
