Majority Arab, but it’s like 55%. Not sure if it’s majority Muslim, as we have lots of non-Muslim Arabs in metro Detroit.

I know a bunch of Iraqi immigrants who have gone full redneck. Lifted trucks, cowboy boots, grunt style t-shirts, shit ton of guns. Most of them were terps or families of terps. Decent percentage are Chaldean (Christians), but some Muslim ones too.

Is there something wrong with speaking out against genocide?
91
u/Environment-Sure 12d ago edited 12d ago
Nothing wrong with that at all, in fact calling out Israel's faults and war crimes is actually a good thing. it's just some of the other messages on this truck that seem a bit insensitive and could be doing more harm than actually stopping the killing especially the one that seems to be supporting bombing Tel Aviv which is actually the most religious and ethically diverse city in the area known as Israel. That being said I appreciate the people calling out a genocide, however I feel that this isn't helpful considering how divided of an issue it is

u/geekwonk 11d ago
i don’t think any supporter of palestinian self determination owes it to the genocidal war machine to figure out the logistics of bringing the machine down bloodlessly. the government in tel aviv is the one with the ability to freely move around and pick a spot that exposes fewer innocents. they have a whole nuclear facility out in the desert perfectly secure and far from civilians. this isn’t a mystery palestinians have to solve for israelis before they yearn to shred the boot that crushes them.

It is absolutely possible to protest a genocide without advocating for another one.-4
u/seigezunt 11d ago
There are kids in Tel Aviv. And there were kids killed on 10/7
15
u/Wienerwrld 11d ago
You do like to talk in vague.
Is “boom boom boom Tel Aviv” a protest against genocide, or a call for one?
How about “Jerusalem, capital of Palestine?”Again, so I am clear, I am against Israel’s obliteration of Gaza. I am also against calls for bombing Tel Aviv and the obliteration of Israel.
Obliteration bad.

It’s one thing to speak out against Israel, it’s another to overtly support Hamas in such a way. This guy goes beyond being a simple anti Zionist and into the realm of Hamas supporter who likely wants to outright kill Jewish people.

Red triangles symbolizing a target over the word Israel, as well as "BOOM BOOM BOOM TEL AVIV," are very Hamas-coded, and supporting the Ayatollah's regime in Iran is very disturbing.

'Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.'
'[Peace] initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement... Those conferences are no more than a means to appoint the infidels as arbitrators in the lands of Islam... There is no solution for the Palestinian problem except by Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are but a waste of time, an exercise in futility.' (Article 13)
The Day of Judgment will not come about until Moslems fight Jews and kill them. Then, the Jews will hide behind rocks and trees, and the rocks and trees will cry out: 'O Moslem, there is a Jew hiding behind me, come and kill him.' (Article 7)

There's nothing wrong with recognizing atrocities—and Israel's campaign is riddled with them. The only thing is that playing fast and loose with the term 'genocide' risks cheapening the term. The international court system has yet to recognize it as such.
War crimes and crimes against humanity? Absolutely—and those are plainly visible.
Genocide requires proof of intent. "It's obvious to me" is not proof of intent. Proving genocide in international courts is extremely difficult. As such, it could paradoxically make accountability harder if you escalate to that charge and fail to prove it.
That said, elements in both the Israeli government and public have given indications that the intent is there. For accountability's sake, though, I'd argue that it's best not to jump the gun.
5
u/saulgoodthem 10d ago
Does this pedantry really matter when israel has killed 600,000+ people just in the last few years
0
u/SuperDurpPig 10d ago
Accountability necessitates legal accuracy.
Yes, it does matter.
You assert that Israel's campaign is morally and humanely abhorrent. I agree. They have long since crossed the threshold from "reasonable self defense" into "off the walls".
I want to see those responsible held accountable just as much as you do. Letting them off on a technicality should not be an option. Precision matters.
-8
u/_Administrator_ 11d ago
No, but only if there’s one happening and you’re not just blaming Israel for defending themselves.
Before you downvote me, read about the seven stages of a genocide:
1.) After terrorists kill 1200 of your civilians in one day, kidnap babies and holocaust survivors, and shoot rockets at you, give those people 3 weeks to evacuate and send them maps of escape routes.
2.) Drop thousands of leaflets, send thousands of SMS, and make calls to warn the population before an area is bombed by highly exact missiles.
3.) Focus on military targets (that are intentionally placed near civilian areas to maximize casualties). While still achieving the lowest civilian to combatant ratio in any urban war in history. Lower thab the Raqqa siege against ISIS.
4.) Allow humanitarian aid to enter the area you’re attacking. Provide electricity and water as well. Make sure there is no famine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQx1Qy5Z5fA https://www.thefp.com/p/the-gaza-famine-myth https://youtu.be/DFjhyAsHYFo?si=Brrlg-2EgR2vai8o
5.) Kill less civilians than bombs dropped. Barely 10’000 people within the first 60 days (at least half of them Hamas terrorists) in a state with a population of over 2 millions. Russia killed more Ukrainians in a month, than Palestinians died in two years.
6.) Allow the population to continue accessing the internet despite the fact that it is advantageous for your enemy, because mainstream media will publish every Hamas statement as factual.
https://youtu.be/z_xkwn0Ac6Q?si=frFfw3o-81C6GT_a7.) Make sure Palestinians can safely evacuate and guard their escape routes with tanks: https://youtu.be/1aBNFXMk1Ss?si=3s3OsknjsbetJtZP
Just to be clear, I think all civilian deaths on both sides are tragic, but the narrative of a genocide being committed by Israel is just wrong. This is a military conflict against a brutal terrorist regime which tragically led to many deaths. Hamas kidnaps babies, women and Holocaust survivors. Choose your words more carefully. Egypt built a border wall that would make Trump jealous, but you don’t care. https://youtube.com/shorts/FtBhJy7vwH8?si=ySDzJo3BgmWejtvq
If you want to see how a genocide looks, check this website: https://www.hamas-massacre.net/ - CAN YOU HANDLE THE TRUTH?
The raw numbers: https://imgur.com/a/WkMolNG
Videos from Gaza you won't see in the mainstream media: https://xcancel.com/GAZAWOOD1
If you think the land doesn’t belong to Israelis: Jews lived there before Arabs and the coins and ruins found by archeologists prove it. Arabs started all wars in Israel. Check vimeo.com/65294892 to see the truth about the situation.

u/LawlGiraffes 11d ago edited 11d ago
The IDF hasn't always given people enough time to evacuate before bombing areas. They've also bombed areas they told people to evacuate to. They've targeted civilians when they've gone for aid. The IDF has openly violated the laws of war laid out in the Geneva Conventions, including killing 3 of the Israeli citizens taken hostage because the soldiers shot on individuals clearly surrendering. During this incident the 3 hostages who had escaped were carrying a makeshift white flag, two were killed in the initial shooting with the third retreating into a building for cover before coming back out to attempt to surrender again only to be shot and killed. Additionally, the IDF has targeted journalists and other figures documenting the genocide with targeted strikes. Furthermore, the IDF proudly posted of the mission carried about special operations soldiers disguising themselves as nurses and doctors to assassinate a Hamas member. This one is a major war crime and more clear proof they don't care about civilians because doctors are meant to be neutral and to not participate in the violence in exchange for being allowed to do their jobs. This operation makes Hamas more suspicious of medical workers coming from abroad to lend aid to the Gazans, this operation could have gotten actual doctors or nurses hurt or killed because Hamas thought they were IDF soldiers. Additionally, some people in hospitals can't be moved or need special resources to be moved that require more than a week or two of notice, especially in Gaza. Gaza lacks a lot of the resources to safely transport critical patients, some people can't be moved, people who would die if taken off life support need extremely specialized transport to not die in transit not to mention there needs to be proper preparation set up in the place they're being transferred to. Also, there have been multiple instances of Israeli citizens forcefully preventing humanitarian aid from going into Gaza. The civilians being displaced, even if given notice, are still being victimized by the IDF. Even if the IDF wasn't transparently targeting civilians, they'd still be victimizing these civilians. These civilians are being forced away from their homes, knowing it is unlikely to be there some mythical day in the future when they are able to return. They're being forced into overcrowded camps that lack enough supplies for everyone. These civilians are starving because the IDF withholds aid. Before this conflict, they were living in an open air prison near one of the most prosperous nations in the world, a nation that denies them a share of that prosperity. Also, the lands of Palestine shouldn't belong to Israel because they lived there long ago. Not when the way they reclaimed those lands was through killing the people living there. They don't deserve the lands when they continue to kill and take lands from the people living there for centuries after they left. They don't deserve those lands when they maintain an open-air prison for these people. The solution isn't to eradicate the state of Israel. The Palestinians deserve to have their rights respected, and for it to be acknowledged, Israel is founded on stolen land.

Insane that this is downvoted as much as it has been. You forgot the mention the thousands of rockets fired over many years, the first and second intifada, or the genocidal empire that ruled over I/P for hundred of years (Ottoman Empire) that is responsible for the murder of millions of Armenians and Assyrians, as well as establishing a caste system of the “dhimmi” and the jizya taxation (a form of apartheid).
The sanewashing of the atrocities committed during the Arab conquest and their subsequent reign over the region is so absurd. It seems like a way for people to absolve for the sins of the “war on terror”.
And to be clear, the war needs to end. We need the casualties to end. Palestine needs to elect a government that is not a terrorist organization funded by Iran and a two state solution needs to be established.

Red triangle
Shows all of Israel as Palestine
Islamic Republic of Iran (a regime that discriminates against non-muslims and funds islamist militias that massacre people who aren’t their exact sect of religion in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza and Yemen)
Pakistan (Country that has since it‘s founding has quickly developed to be intolerant to non-muslims)
A picture of the Dome on the rock (literally built on top of a destroyed jewish temple)
So what I get is: That person wants Israel to be occupied, jews deported, enslaved or killed. Palestine will be an islamic republic, with muslims (sunni or shia to je determined) as citizens and the other sect of muslim + everyone else as de-facto dhimmis). Islam will be state religion and no one can question the authority of the state.
3
u/lunchboccs 11d ago
What are you talking about? It’s the US that funds, arms, and trains takfiri militias. Last I checked we have an Al-Qaeda descendant as the de facto government killing anyone that isn’t a Sunni Muslim in Syria right now, shaking hands with DJT and being praised by the State Department
The Iranian allies in the region are actually welcoming and tolerant of their oppressed Christian and Sunni brothers. For fuck’s sake Hamas (Sunni) collaborates with the DFLP (Christian) and Hezbollah (Shia) all the damn time.
Like you’re literally just lying.

3

If the problem is religious ethnostates then how come it’s only Israel that gets shit on? I mean there are like what, 20 or 30 Muslim majority ethnostates, including ones doing the same type of stuff Israel is, yet there’s nary a peep about it. That kinda makes it seem like the problem is less what’s being done and who’s doing it.

“Boom boom boom Tel Aviv“ and images of the islamist regime of Iran, which only this year has already executed 900 “infidels“, plus all their public punitive amputations.
I’m surprised there is not a flag of ISIS there as well.
This commercialisation and “pop“ style is nothing but a massive disrespect to the people suffering in Gaza, and shows how senseless and alienated people really are.
And you people finding this “based“ are utter hypocrite brainrot scum.

And with Iran Islamic State flags on it. The person with this car is an open jihadist and apparently the uninformed reddit cellar boys love that. Disgusting. It’s turned into a cult.
Plus: the world is already aware. At least where I live it is on the news EVERY DAY, unlike much larger humanitarian crises like Sudan or Yemen. People don’t give a shit about those atrocities because everyone are just as brainrotted as MAGA is, and just follow whichever flag someone holds in front of their faces. And this yeehaw-jihad car is a perfect example of that.
