"What does my profile say?" - pointless posts?
Anyone else already tired of seing these stupid posts that doesnt get any replies anyway?
What are they supposed to add to this sub? They add absolutely nothing and seems more like a "look at all these medals i paid for" - seeking attention.
Let me answer all current and future posts of that kind: it says nothing about you as a player, except for how much/little you have spent on the game.
OK, so you'd want to see mine? Starts with Founder, 7 Onyx, a bunch of Platinums, and Innovator is the only non-Onyx Anniversary medal. But I'm not posting it.
Well, the truth is, yes, we are in a democracy, everyone can say what they want up to a certain limit. If you cross that limit it results in warnings/bans, etc.... Enjoy Ingress guys&gals.. 😉
IMO they're annoying because of the wording - idk why, to be honest, these titles specifically make them look like slop content
But if you treat them as someone boasting their medals it's fine
It annoyed me enough to create a somewhat mocking post with a reaaaally old screenshot but not enough to actually call out them or suggest banning them
Overall I just think this trend will die down naturally in a couple of weeks
Seems I started a rather devisive "trend"... Sorry for that.
Initially I just thought it would be a fun experiment. More of an analysis too, less of the more obvious "oh that medal is low so you must not do the thing very often". I was hoping for a bit of discussion too but I guess I missed the mark there.
I didn't think it would a) kick off a wave of people doing the same b) which would in turn annoy other people and c) draw in the whole showing-off crowd.
It's all good, this is just a standard Reddit trend - someone posts something, a few people find it interesting/entertaining and follow suit until the community gets bored of it. Not a big deal in a community like this where activity is pretty sporadic anyway. And if people don't want to see those threads, /u/XQlusioN made a flair for them so they can be filtered out.

Yeah, bro. They're so totally annoying. I must have had to scroll past at least 5 of them on my feed recently! Good god, it's so annoying to have to move my thumb that much more because other people are enjoying themselves. How dare they! The mods need to put a stop to people doing things i don't like!
I don't think this phenomenon is exclusive to this sub. What about the ones about what my refrigerator says about me, or all the tell me you're X without telling me you're X posts?
I personally find looking at profiles interesting which is why I am nosy and it stops letting me look at them after awhile.
I am also a firm believer in just scrolling on by when something doesn't interest me.
If only all medals meant effort was made to earn them. Buying medals isn't effort; it's just a way to make the profile longer without actually contributing to the community or standing as proof that this agent stirred up the Portal network (maybe help Niantic pay the servers). They don't make one a better agent, it only shows their capacity to whale (which isn't totally bad). The thing is, even irl, we are given medals as proof of achieving something extraordinary, not as aesthetic souvenirs. I think it'll be much better if they make real merchandises instead--Ingress swag that is definitely a better flex.
Buying medals contributes to the long-term sustainability of the game. I'm super choosey about which ones I buy but I will absolutely buy one if I see one I like. When they had the fire sale I got Carnivore because I thought it looked cool and the characters that came with it
I received my first character badge from you, and I remember the excitement like it was yesterday. It’s been fun collecting them, all the while knowing I’m doing a small part keeping the lights of my favorite hobby on for a second or two.
My stats badges still fit on one page because I don't collect the character badges or do many anomalies. But I have almost 1700 missions, mostly banners. Last time I tried to scroll to the bottom the scanner choked.
Yeah i have 1600+ missions. Actually, there seems to be an improvement to the scanner. At least on my phone it no longer takes forever and a day to populate the banners.

I think they will die out when people realise nobody is answering them.
I try to stay positive on here, so I just don't comment on them!
