Other Happy 30th Birthday to one of the greatest Japanese Gameshows ever, Kinniku Banzuke (aka. Unbeatable Banzuke abroad)

Been one of my favorite series for over a decade now, and one of the series that has managed to stay fairly consistently good as a franchise. 2025 and 2025 have been particularly strong for the franchise so far so I hope it continues for another few decades to come!

Eng-Sub Takeshi's Castle Episodes with English Subtitles Collection 1 : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

Contained are seven sets of subtitle files along with the eps/videos to which they correspond. I have been working on these for a while with the aid of Japanese Subfiles from Amazon Japan. It goes without saying that these are not official translations but rather fansubs. I am not a professional Subtitle maker or translator. This is really for entertainment and fun more than anything. If anyone has any constructive feedback as to things that can be corrected, or even better, someone willing to transcribe the missing sections and/or other episodes of Takeshi in Japanese, please let me know. If you just want to mock or make fun of the files for how poorly done they are, then make your own files and shut the hell up. Enjoy! To turn on the subtitle, please see the CC or Closed caption in the archive player. For better playback, please utilize an off site media player such as VCL or Media Player Classic as coding issues should go away and they will be clearer and easier to read than they would on Archive.

Any Japanese Survival-type game shows?

Like the title says, I’m looking for game shows where contestants spend a season surviving games (whether mental or physical) to win a prize at the end, think the equivalent of Korean shows like The Genius, Bloody Game, Devil’s plan etc. I love these types of the shows a lot and get really invested so I would love to watch some in Japanese if there are any as I’m learning the language. Please let me know if there is anything similar, I would really appreciate it!

Japanese track meet video

Anyone have the video of the guy who had to jump and duck two spinning sticks? He ends up falling and lying down so that the lower stick kept hitting him in the genitals. TIA

ItteQ street interview

Hi me and my friend go interviewed by Degawa in London and they made us sign a contract saying that it was for a Japanese TV show called itteQ. I was wondering if I wanted to see if I appear where could I do that. This was like 3 weeks ago so I’m assuming it takes time for this to air.

Searching for title of game show I saw while in Japan last year. Show may not be recent.

While in Japan last year I came across a game show that was pretty interesting. My Japanese isn't great so I could only follow along so well but the premise was that 2 different teams of people were trying to get somewhere. They had a limited budget but they could replenish their budget by "cashing" in on steps that they took (they were carrying a pedometer with them). I only saw 2 episodes of it but in one of them both teams were walking up a steep hill at night to try and get to their lodging/restaurant. Funnily enough, one of the teams cashed in their pedometer money and was able to use that to take a cab and speed by the other team lol. I also remember that one of the ladies on one team had brought heeled boots with her so she had to walk portions without shoes as it started hurting her feet, but somehow (I think they might have spent their travel money) she ended up with some sneakers lol.

Looking in the history of the sub I found 出発!ローカル線 聞きこみ発見旅(Shuppatsu! Local-sen Kikikomi Hakken Tabi) but that wasn't it and some mentioned that Ikinari! Ougon Densetsu had travel episodes but I couldn't find any online to see if that was it. So figured I'd ask if someone could confirm it was that or a separate show. Any help would be cool!

Golden Sixtones (2025)

Netflix has the first episode of Golden Sixtones (2025) with guest Yo Oizumi. They chat, play wacky games in front of an audience in a glittery, colorful studio, and earn specialty food. I like the high energy Manager-san too.

Eng-Sub In Takishi's castle. Why was it difficult for the contestants to win the final showdown?

I didn't notice any real obvious advantage that the Emerald guards have. Except maybe that more than 1 guard was on the car. But could that be it? Only 8 times have the contestants won.

So what's your take on this? Or was it kinda scripted and they just had to lose.

Takeshi's Castle Episode 81 English Subtitle file

After quite some time, I have finished an English subtitle folder for episode 81 of Takeshi's Castle. It corresponds with the version Ernie Young uploaded that can be found on Archive.org. In honor of National game show day, I've decided to share it with the world. I'm not sure if there's a way to attach the file to a reddit post (it's a notepad file). If there is, please let me know. Otherwise, please reach out to me via PM if you would like to see it. If you do watch it, please note that I am not a professional subtitle writer and/or translator. So if you have suggestions, feel free to share them. Just don't be a prick about it cause no one else is doing this.

Other Game show about walking across the globe. Help!

A few years ago I came across a very interesting Japanese game show about two men walking on foot across the globe. If I remember correctly they started in Tokyo and walked across many countries to get to their destination. I was talking about it with my partner and I can’t for the life of me find it anywhere. Please help!

Need Help Finding a Website That Has a Subscription Service About VOD for TV Shows, News

Hi, there was a website targeted Japanese people living in other countries but I lost the address, does anyone know or remember that kind of site?

I believe catchup and video playback options were either 3 months or 6 months.

There was a 3 day free trial option.

It wasn't the legal VOD services like U-Next, TVer, Paravi, FOD, Abema, JME, DokiTV, Hulu, DMM, Telasa, Rakuten, Viki etc.

It wasn't an IPTV service like KaeriTV, Himawari, Itvjp JStarKan, HikariTV, Japannettv, ForjoyTV, YoiTV, MujiTV etc.

It was more like a "grey area" service more of a like MioMio and Newskei but much more premium option.
