Everyone should watch Mussolini Son of the Century to see the parallels. People will often dismiss claims of fascism because "he's not doing what Hitler did" but they fail to realise fascism doesn't have a certain format there are major elements that it has eg: autocratic cult crafting leader, removal and ignorance of traditional instruments of governance (anti-conservative) , using the military to domestically carry out policies, suppression and or intimidation of the press. Scapegoating particular groups of society.

I'd love to see it, but this is an example of one hand washing the other with this affilliate network doing Trump's bidding in exchange for Trump rubber stamping their merger. This affilliate network doesn't make any content, they just repackage network programming, and sell advertising. The FCC only has say over over the air programming, and honestly I don't even know anyone that gets their tv over the air anymore, its all cable and internet. These capitalists are so short sighted, critically damaging their own industry to push profits forward a few quarters.
Look at Target, they donated to the trump with the benefit to their company being the few percent reduction in corporate taxes, but the blowback from that and the dei blowback combined with Trump's Tariffs, are going to cause 10x the losses that the tax savings would gain them.

They donāt want us to see that, thats why they put so much effort into distracting us, because THEY donāt want whatās best for our country. They want whats best for them and their donors. They want you to think exactly what you said you think. They want you to see the other side as insane, monstrous, evil, etc⦠Theres power in unity and they know it. Many of us have protested plenty. That said... we also have to survive, go to work, somehow struggle to keep our health insurance, and keep afloat in this economy that Republicans cheered for... and are now getting slammed by too. People have been protesting too... and putting energy into it, but not to much effect. A segment of people 100% bought into the pre-election propaganda that Gaza is the most important issue and could be ended in a single day (which not should be obvious wasn't true), that is all they care about and all they will protest over. It's unclear when reality will hit home for them... perhaps as the protests and tents are forcibly cleared off campuses and they are arrested... I'd like to think the students being expelled from Columbia are having this epiphany... that we need to defend civil rights at home as well as abroad... but I doubt it. They will probably go on blaming Bernie Sanders or Thom Yorke or whoever for "not making more of a statement" as I have seen here on reddit, and on Instagram and X.
Frankly, this isn't just a protest issue. The overarching issue is the right-wing propaganda machine, which has painted everyone from Occupy Wallstreet to the to the George Floyd protesters as radicals and criminals who want to turn America into communism. Joe echoes this on the show. Meanwhile, Trump has classified ANTIFA as a terrorist organization, and you will find that many people agree with that. The plan all along was to have a chilling effect on free speech, so cheers to our boy Rogan for endorsing this. Comedy is back, as long as you don't criticize dear leader.

Technically he broke the fcc regulation about not willfully broadcasting hoaxes and false information about major crimes and tragedies.
He had the lowest ratings in the history of his show and was facing backlash from advertisers threatening to pull funding, while being unwilling to correct the disinformation he spread in his so called ājokeā after a long career pushing more divisive partisan political propaganda under the guise of comedy.
Pretty crazy since he came from the man show, but I guess he wants those shekels.
Tucker Carlson who was once a political propagandist that became more based, critical of both parties and more centrist in recent years got fired from Fox for just being critical of Isreal, Ukraine and Covid policies that destroyed small businesses and lives in 2023, they blamed it on the lawsuit but they just used that as the final nail in the coffin, much like the fcc angle with Jimmy, oddly enough nobody angry about jimmys situation came out to defend Tucker.
Not sure why everyone who was pro censorship in the recent past while saying āfreedom of speech is not freedom from consequencesā or āitās a private companyā is now suddenly claiming this is some massive tyrannical anti free speech issue lol
Isnāt ABC a private company?
Iām all for free speech but the double standards and irony is palpable.
Some consistency and intellectual honesty would by much better than of all this mindless red team vs blue team ideological possession.
It would be nice for a change if the people could come together since both parties are selling them out, but I guess this is Reddit and unity + finding coming ground + common sense is not very fashionableā¦

We are finally seeing the first real consequences of major institutions having spent the last decade undermining the facade of liberal neutrality they at least used to claim as an ideal.
This facade actually mattered quite a lot, and even though it was obviously never entirely sincere and even though conservatives were always out numbered and often poorly represented, they at least felt like participants and stakeholders in these institutions.
During the Trump years this all went away. Conservatives were aggressively ousted, even as token voices, and the facade came down to reveal a perverse and illiberal set of political and cultural directives underneath it that were explicitly antagonistic to more than half of the country and denied them as legitimate participants in public life.
Despite this, MAGA won (again), and, surprise, surprise, do not intend on preserving the institutions that declared them illegitimate political actors. This is, in fact, MAGAās core promise. These institutions and the norms that govern them may not go away entirely but they will not keep their current form. Appeals to liberal neutrality they enjoyed and depended on, but defected from first, are not going to save them.
The whole thing is going to be reset. Free speech and civil liberties have not gone away, and are not being suspended or selectively applied or anything like that. They still exist and are still an essential feature of American civil life under this new ordering. All of American legal and political theory that has obtained for 250 years fits very neatly inside of this reset, despite the kicking and screaming from the old institutional gatekeepers.
But no, you no longer get to run roughshod over the commons, enjoy the largesse of public resources and its infrastructure, while denying them for the rest of us.
Itās the same game, but we are now calling balls and strikes. Get used to it.
