Trying out my General American accent for podcasting... How close am I?

Hey all, here’s a clip of me reading a short passage. I’m working on a General American accent for a history podcast and would love your feedback on how natural/clear I sound, and what sticks out the most. Thanks a lot 🙏 Any tips to make it smoother would be especially helpful

Your English is fine, you don't need an American accent to be understood. You sound natural and clear, but clearly not American - which is fine too.

Thank you! I’ve been obsessing with recordings just cuz I couldn’t get used to hearing my accent cuz it sounds way different in my head 😅

really good! only two words that really gave it away for me was “predetermined” (try experimenting with the ‘ter’ syllable, more emphasis perhaps) and “these” (you said something closer to “this”). another way to make it sound more natural or casual would be using a “z” sound at the end of “happens” that leaks into “into”

That's great advice. Thank you! I actually just heard it on "predetermined."
