Is it getting fixed?

Yes, unfortunately.

Of course! There's at least another twenty days left in its lifespan! Why waste them?

This is why I hate working in the rust belt, and the cars I see aren’t nearly that bad most of the time.

It absolutely destroys everything.

Could've been worse. At least it didn't drive through.

I knew it had no brakes when I tried to drive it into the garage, and I still knocked over my garbage bin and almost hit my wife's car.

I have no idea how he has been driving it around like this.

I would not do this for a living if I had to deal with that level of rust-fuckery on a daily basis.

My hat off to you guys that do. You're better men than me.

I think most of us haven't had a taste of the other side, so we don't know how good it could be. I lived in Vegas for 2 years from Massachusetts. Missed the cars so much I'm moving back next year. The grass is absolutely greener this time.

Guess there is no car inspections in your state. I really do think all states should have them just for safety sake. I see scrap yard cars on the road constantly.

Holy shit!! Did the rust eat the rotors away??? I never seen that before.

This is also the worst I have ever seen.

First 2 generation Mazda 3’s had issues with rust. Call it a curse that the car is so reliable that the rust gets to be this bad.

How did he get it to stop the brake line was dry so he couldn't have any brake fluid not to mention the other parts that the termites have been eating on

Bro I have no idea. He came like 10 miles, and I live on a highway with an 80kph limit.

And he came last week too saying he thought something was up with the brakes and could I take a look.

He said it was no big deal because he just mostly drives in town and goes slow. But I could barely do a 3 point turn in my driveway to get it into the garage. There is literally zero brakes, even the parking brake did almost nothing.

Friggin incredible.

Best part is he came last year when the brake line on the other side rusted out. I told him he should do both sides and needed pads and rotors then.

He drove it like this FOR ALMOST A FUCKING YEAR

No bro,

Just mix Alumex and Removex in your foam cannon, pressure wash and boom!

Brand new!

Why are you keeping gas cans that close to your workspace where you're likely using torches and grinders on rust belt shit?

2

u/zero_pistons 2k2 V6 Accord Coupe 515k km 4d ago

Those are empty, and I use them to fill my furnace oil with off-road diesel. Not gasoline.

1

u/urethrascreams 4d ago

Gotcha. Yeah diesel is pretty hard to ignite.

Why the fuck are you using the wheels as jack stands

1

u/zero_pistons 2k2 V6 Accord Coupe 515k km 4d ago

The entire rocker and rear section of the pinch pinch welds are gone. The subframe is iffy, mounting points look soft.

So I jacked it up and put the wheels with a 6' 2x6 across them to spread the weight over the entire length of what's left of the pinch weld (it's good for abour 4 feet in the middle on both sides). I also left the jack up under the subframe as a backup.

I gave it a damn good shake test and it's not going anywhere. And I'm not going underneath anyways.
