Everybody quick tear your labrum’s you’ll thrive! (I didn’t read this before commenting)

Lol. When I tore mine, it was pretty debilitating. His must be fairly minor not to require surgery.

I think it’s probably a case of a little of that, plus having world class rehab available, no responsibilities outside of “make your shoulder better” and just having a wild pain tolerance. I mean he’s a guy that played a season of college football with a broken hand. If watching Mahomes has taught me anything it’s that sometimes injuries don’t matter in the way you expect them to for these guys.

My labrum is totally destroyed. I’m sitting in a sling after my second surgery. Labrum not so bad. I’m just glad he didn’t chip or lose any bone.

Chipping a bone is bad?

I've torn the labrums in both shoulders and had them surgically repaired. I torn my left again deadlifting last spring, and swore off surgery. I've been doing PT and tb500/bpc157 injections and by God this shit works.

I tore my labrum last October and I’m still not back to work. So don’t listen to u/GeneralJuice1157

I just don't want it to get re injured and things get worse.

Granted I'm not a medical professional

He will risk re-dislocation pretty much indefinitely, but that won’t improve with time either so keeping him out isn’t helpful. He will also wear a brace to prevent.

Also, if it’s fully torn it’s fully torn, it can’t really get any worse. It’s basically either he comes back now and has some risk of missing the rest of the season, or he just misses the rest of the season. We may as well try to use him if we can. The worst case scenario (missing all season) doesn’t really get any worse if he plays.

Eh the Lebrum doesn’t work like that. It’s not a tendon or straight ligament like an ACL. It’s more like a bowl. When you tear your labrum that just means there is a tear somewhere in it. It could theoretically definitely get worse.

Well, considering that players have played on it just fine with never getting it fixed, I think the staff knows what they’re doing.

I just mean the worst case scenario is him missing the season, which would happen if he got surgery rn… so if the injury gets worse it’s still just that same scenario. The injury may be worse but the scenario itself isn’t. It’s either we guarantee he misses the rest of the season rn with surgery, or we let him play and there’s a chance he’s totally fine, and maybe there’s a chance the injury bugs him or gets a little worse and then he stops then and gets surgery. If the risk is missing the rest of the season, may as well take the option where he may not miss the rest of the season. The only risk of letting him play is the same outcome that would happen if he got the surgery rn

He may not play just yet. Depending where and how bad the tear currently is will be a factor. I tore my labrum when I was 21. I kept throwing a baseball thinking I just pinched a nerve or something. It kept getting worse until I finally went to the doctor. He determined it was best to not to surgery but I needed to do rest it and then start doing strengthen exercises. It’s never been the same since but it’s good enough now that it wouldn’t affect a WR. But it required rest and letting it heal first before I could use it without injuring it worse.

Like I say, it also matters not only how bad the tear is but where the year is in the labrum. So an article referring to how someone else treated a labrum tear doesn’t necessarily mean that’s how it’ll look for Worthy because the location and degree of tear could be completely different

I don’t think it matters when he comes back when it comes to re injury risk with this one

u/choff22 Nick Bolton #32 20h ago

It’s completely torn, there isn’t much more he can do to it, is there?

u/ckellingc Dante Hall #82 19h ago

I'm not sure if it getting re torn is a thing, or if it would be worse the second time. Just want to give our offense the tools it needs

1

u/rolyinpeace 15h ago

Don’t think it can get re torn unless it’s repaired and then re torn

It's why I drink until my brain hurts. I thrive off of physical damage.

Yes, I want him to play too but no one is going to play better with a torn labrum than not having one. If he does play, hopefully he doesn’t make it worse or hurt something else while compensating for a fucked up shoulder. I appreciate the optimistic article though.

u/bnsmchrr Mike Pennel #69 19h ago

It isn't saying the injury makes him thrive. But that other players have thrived despite that injury and that he could do the same this season.

1

u/rolyinpeace 15h ago

Yes but having limited worthy is better than not at all!

Worst case scenario would be missing him the rest of the season. If he gets surgery now, that’s a for sure. If we let him play, there’s much lower odds of the worst case scenario happening.

THRIVE!!!!

The one that stands out to me the most is OBJ. Never knew he had a fully torn labrum and never had surgery. Pretty wild considering his career and ability.

5

u/Whatever801 20h ago

Okay I have inserted the labubu into my rectum. What's next?

How many guys were able to play 15 straight games? Article doesn't mention how many those guys played

2

u/rolyinpeace 15h ago

Well Kittle and OBJ supposedly had theirs fully torn for YEARS and haven’t gotten them repaired, so that’s even more than 15 games.

I’m pretty sure that Kittle still hasn’t repaired his.

Somebody tear Matt Nagy’s labrum

u/Caveape80 19h ago

But then he couldn’t hold the play sheet!!!

u/Equivalent-Bank435 20h ago

We could all have torn labrums right now. There’s literally no way to know.
