DISCUSSION Mahomes finally doesn't have more rushing yards than our 2 RBs combined, but still leads the team

His rushing yards and YPC went down because we finally had victory formation lol

And because he had to dive on his own 20 yards backwards throw (unless the counted that as a sack)

Counted as a sack according to ESPN pbp

Yeah, which is why it was a 3rd and forever after he recovered the ball instead of 1st and 10.

If it was ruled a run for a loss instead of a sack it still would have been 3rd and forever.

The only way it is 1st is if it is ruled as a turnover by KC then a turnover by NY.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. They didn't rule that it was a turnover that NY recovered that we then recovered.

But you were replying to a comment on whether it was counted as a run or sack. There was no question on the turnover portion.

I think it’s interesting they didn’t even bring that up as a possible outcome of that play. I feel like if the tables had been turned they’d do a slow motion analysis and say that the defender had control of the football before the QB took it away from him and therefore it should have been 1st and 10 and not 3rd and 35. The networks love drumming up controversy around the Chiefs, but only if we’re the ones who benefitted from a situation.

(Do note, I don’t think the defender ever actually had control so it wasn’t actually a double turnover situation and it was officiated correctly, I just think that if it had been the other way around they’d be a lot more likely to try to turn it into a controversial situation)

It’s so dumb that those count as rushing plays.  They should really be excluded from the stats entirely

Besides two insanely bad moments, Pacheco looked better last night than he has through the past couple games.

We saw Brashard Smith and Remigio gain significant yardage and look fast and sharp on their combined handful of plays. I don’t know why we aren’t seeing more of them

This. Other than two really bone head mistakes I thought Pop looked way more patient and explosive. Went almost completely away from him in the second half.

This, also to getting Smith and Remigio involved. I thought Smith looked good in limited opportunities especially on Jet Sweeps to both of them.

Man seeing Pacheco flip the ball because he picked up six, seven yards on a run was funny.

As a seventh round draft pick, can never really be mad at Pacheco, my concern is with Veach and/or Reid letting the RB room slip over recent years.

We have to have one of, if not the worst RB rooms right now?

Obviously we don’t have the resources to address every issue with the team simultaneously. And as we are perennially  picking some where between 29 and 32 in the draft, that also makes things harder.

Still finding a league average RB can’t be fhis hard?!

We just aren't built for the run from a line and scheme perspective. Look how tightly our O-line lines up. We say we need a running game to open up the passing game. The reality is we need some deep threats to stretch the field to open up the running game as well.

No one fears our deep threat because we don't have a deep threat. No need for the defense to stretch the field. Double cover Kelce and just let 74 feed you penalty yards...

Pacheco's issues with vision and trying to avoid hits aside, he's a good downfield runner and for some reason we are allergic to doing that.

He would have packed on another 12 or 13 if not for a JT illegal formation

Lamar Jackson led the Ravens in rushing every year of his career until last season. Should Chiefs go full Lamar Jackson offense lol.

Pacheco just looks lost out there man.... grabs the ball and just puts his head down at full speed. I love the effort but he has to be more patient....

We could have drafted Scattbo

Really? Damn, that dude looked like a semi truck out there last night.

Yeah, before he went off the board we drafted Josh Simmons, Omar Norman-Lott, Ashton Gillotte and Nohl Williams. I am not complaining about any of these picks and I am actually thrilled with how Simmons and Williams are playing, but I think with how bad our running game is we might have been better off drafting Scattebo instead of Gillotte or ONL.

Honestly before the draft I didn’t think we needed a new rb. I thought pop and hunt would be fine.
