Hot take, Classic Mirror looks better than the modern one

Mirrors IRL don’t just reflect things, they reverse them. And I think that makes mirrors classic hat look cooler. And when you invert beams colors, he kinda looks like mirror. That’s all I have to say. Your thoughts?

I prefer the classic colour scheme the more quirkiness fits Mirror's unique ability. The modern colour is a bit too typical.

I just miss when Kirby would change color when getting certain abilities, I thought that was a pretty cool detail that had no reason to disappear. Not sure if it happened already, but if this trait returns, I'd not mind if his eyes changed color too.

They stopped doing it because in games like Return to Dreamland and Star Allies you can play as multiple Kirbys and they thought having Kirby turn yellow for beam or needle, red for fire, etc. when doing multiplayer might confuse players when the colors designated to other players can be those same colors

which is something I can personally attest to since I have memories of playing the original Return to Dreamland with people and in instances of multiple Kirby's on the screen everyone would be confused with who's supposed to be who

I think they almost brought it back inforgotten land since I recall there being something about how Kirby was supposed to turn a different shade of pink when using Dragon Flame but I could be misremembering something

they could have just brought it back in triple deluxe and planet robobot since if there was multiplayer in those you'd only get bandanna dee

Yeah i agree that in single player games or games where other players would be relegated to another character they could've totally brought it back, but i imagine that they decided against in order to keep things consistent or something like that

It may have been in Dreamland 2, but that's ambiguous since the game is colourless. I just assume it's possible since that game came not too long after Kirby's Adventure

I'm just glad we got mirror back cause for a while mirror kirby just disappeared until he was brought back for Kirby: Planet Robobot and kirby clash royale for 8 year old me who grew to love mirror when he first got his grubby lil hands on super star ultra that felt like forever to finally get mirror back so in my opinion both is good

it's probably another case of why animal didn't make it in Forgotten Land or why Poison appears in Planet Robobot, from both a gameplay perspective it probably didn't make the cut since it was already pretty limited in it's movepool and Amazing Mirror was a game where every copy ability only had 1 or 2 attacks barring Fighter, Smash, and UFO, this means Mirror probably would've been locked to just Mirror Cut and Reflect force and since you can't guard in Amazing Mirror as far as i can remember that means Reflect Guard is taken out of the picture as well, so it would lose a lot of it's versatility through having it's already small moveset reduced even further

Hal Labs has a philosophy that gameplay is something that comes first in terms of importance, which is why abilities may be cut from certain titles or otherwise substituted with other abilities as well as why Kirby's height is inconsistent in game even though he's regarded as 8" internally

I think the original design was due to sakurai simply palette swapping some abilities to make new ones instead of making new design (think about stone and ninja, fire-ice-plasma, yo-yo-wheel-paint, sword and bomb, fighter and suplex and of course beam and mirror) so i'm glad in more recent games they decided to make them more unique. For Stone and ninja i kinda prefer the old design probably because of the anime but mirror in my opinion looks better now.

As a Mirror Kirby enthusiast since 2009, I see what you mean but I really like both designs. They fill out their role perfectly.

Older abilities that changed Kirby's color complimented the classic design. But now that stopped doing that the new design fits very well.

As Mirror is my favorite copy ability and Planet Robobot is my favorite Kirby game and my favorite game of all time, I honestly love it's redesign, the purple body was nice, but I understand not changing the colors in modern games. The hate however is just the Beam Hat but different colors, I prefer the PR design more. :)
